Releasing modified PR content.

Post by NOMAD/031098-010241 »

I would like to release some of my modified PR weapons that I use in private for PR use. Is it okay to release my modified content here? Or do I have to ask permission from the individual authors?

You have to ask permission and it can't be hosted on a non-passworded server.

Oooh, more mesh hacks? :) Anything we might be able to use by any chance or just fictional stuff?

It really all depends on firstly what you've modified, and how you've modified it. If its just some changed code for an asset and all you plan on releasing is some code for SP players that can only be used with PR then there isn't any issue with that (unless its changed python code, then there may be an issue). But if your modifying a PR map then you will need permission for that.

I'm wondering, what's the worst Devs can do if someone edits PR maps without permission? :roll: Can you even claim copyrights for these maps?

not planning to edit PR maps without permission if you wonder that

They are Copyrighted like all of PR's other unique content, so the worst we could do is take someone to court about it but that is naturally, very unlikely to ever happen :p

@Mineral
Okay.

@M42
Maybe, and also some my own mix.

@greg
Something like this, Lee Enfield No.4 and 5 (Ported from FH2 so it may never see release), T20 (Ported from FH2 so it may never see release). Obrezstyle mosin nagant, SKS with PU scope and others I wont go into much detail because they are fictional stuff like HK417 with MG3 Carry handle/scope.

@Rhino
Weapon models

Else I use all them for private use in COOP. I don't even play online due to slow internet and ancient hardware.

Carefull with that greg, you can get into a court if you release it to public without asking permissions. And this: Lee Enfield No.4 and 5 (Ported from FH2 so it may never see release) is lie since they're already ingame at least No.4. Staph stealing content!!!!

Stealing happens when I told someone or everyone that the models are mine. I didn't hence I included "ported from FH2" and I remember reading a thread that PR asked for permission for the Lee EnfieldS from FH2 some years ago. May never see release means if PR devs allow me to release the custom content, content from FH2 is excluded. Also thank you for re iterating what was previously posted that such actions could lead to go to court.

I've talked with management, and you should be fine with releasing for private use (i.e. any other mods that want to use these have to clear it with us), given you're not claiming ownership and are basically just putting different pieces of existing models together. Obviously that doesn't apply to the weapons that use FH2 assets though, you'll have to contact them too for that.

Also, check your PMs. :)
