Project Reality Standalone Installation?

I had a few questions about PR and PR Standalone, as I am hoping to install it soon.
Is the PR BF2 Mod version obsolete and therefore only the standalone works online?
If not, do people with standalone and BF2 PR Mod play together in the same servers?

And also, how does one install PR Standalone? Is it the same exact process with BF2 Mod, but just with the standalone download? Or is there a separate way of doing it?

PR Standalone replaces PR:BF2 mod although it's obviously still a mod The only thing that changes is you no longer need BF2 installed. There is no option to still use BF2 and install a PR mod on it.
