problem with updater

Hi guys sorry to double post on this but there doesn't seem to be too much activity in the support section.

Does anyone have any suggestions on my last post? I seem to have narrowed down the issue to the updater.

are you running it all with admin rights?

yes i've tried running as admin and in compatibility mode.

The launcher needs elevation anyway so rightcliking it and running as admin is sort of redundant but i tried and and it didn't work.

the launcher polls your whole system including hard-drives which may be sleeping (and need to spin up before launcher responds)

do you have any usb drives etc attached which may cause some issues ? -- also if sound card isnt working / sound isnt working the launcher will crash -- I have to plug speakers into my soundcard or the launcher will just crash

sound definitely works, I am able to start an offline server and play without any problems.

My disks are in Raid 5, should be spinning all the time i think

I have now copied the 1.3.9 files from my friend and everything is working fine.
