Having Issues with 1.3 Windows 10

Post by XxBraveheartxX7 »

G'day,

So I recently bought a new computer and have it updated to windows 10. I was able to previously play PR on Windows 7. When I go to the main launch screen and select my profile and begin, the screen goes black and crashes. It comes up with the message: BF2 has closed; Cleaning up resources. I have looked around at some forums and have heard that Win 10 has made the game incompatible.

If anyone could provide some help it would be very much appreciated.

Here are my PC Specs:

Thanks for the tips,
I Have version Direct Version 12
It didn't work and I have checked my fire wall and anti virus.
I'm guessing it is something else.

your "my documents" is probably set to read only. frustrating new "security feature" in windows 10 that breaks alot of older games/programs that put read/write config files in My Documents subdirectories

right click on documents; left click on property; left click on the "Sharing" Tab; left click on Share, open up the file sharing dialoge box, left click on everyone, left click on add and finally left click on the share bottom at the bottom of the page.

I had same problem but I think I solved it. However, my problem is that I couldn't save to OneDrive folders. Other than that, I can save.

I found out that OneDrive permission keep resetting itself is because I have Homegroup network. My other computer without HomeGroup network doesn't have this problem. Once it's set, the permission doesn't change back. So, for those with Homegroup network, you'll find in Sharing tab of folder properties 2 entries: one is Homegroup and the other is the owner.

Just change the permission level of Homegroup to Read/Write instead of Read only.

Also in my settings, OneDrive is owned by my userid, with SYSTEM, ADMINISTRATORS, and Homeusers have all FULL CONTROL.

I realized that permission kept resetting is because my computer is considered to be part of Homegroup network, which only has Read-only access.

If you want to check if it works or not, just right click inside OneDrive folder, choose NEW. IF you only see FOLDER, then it's read-only. If it shows other file types, then it's solved.

I've been resetting my computer a few times and working with files inside OneDrive and I haven't encountered OneDrive problem yet.

In short, if you use Homegroup network, make sure that Sharing is Read+Write. If you don't, just remove your Homegroup network. Or use Workgroup instead. And yes, I'm using MS Account.

Sorry for the late reply, it still did not work. Any other Ideas? Shouldn't PR work on DirectX9? I'm still very confused. Thanks

Yeah I've been having the exact issue. I've upgraded from win 8 to win 10 and PR started crashing on startup. I've updated C++, .NET, and Direct X. Nothing works. I really hope we get a fix to this.

Quite strange because I have upgraded from win 8.1 Pro to Win 10 pro ( 64bit ) and I dont have these problems. I dont think it is OS specific issue, if not OneDrive issue as Litoralis described. I dont use Onedrive, in fact I removed it completely from the system, along with some other "special features" of Win 10 OS.

You may try this what I used if nothing else helps, but be warned that it will remove some features of Win 10 OS. Read the desription and usage parts. In particular it will remove OneDrive, and possibly resolve the issue.

Use at your own risk. I had no damage from it, but yo must understand what are you doing, or it may cause damage.

Additionaly it does not matter that you have DirectX 12 you still need to install DirectX9c.

Download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from Official Microsoft Download Center

I can confirm this doesn't help at all, literally none of the god damn solutions worked, as I had literally tried EVERYTHING.
