SVD

Post by X-Alt »

Can the option of an SVD without a scope be offered for RU\Militia\Taliban, the AK-74 with a PSO isn't really the most practical of weapons, and the SVD is preffered among most users of the marksman kit?

I think they removed it because you have backup irons on the SVD albeit useless... scope gets in the way

Not much of a marksman rifle if it doesn't have a scope don't you think? If you want a semi auto iron sight gun with a ten round capacity use the sks  .

No seriously the sks is actually amazing right now in pr.

Pretty sure the SVD has the backup sight, same with the AK-74 PSO

People prefer the SVD over the SKS to use it as as a rapid fire Mosin, especially on maps like Kokan and Kozelsk\Iron Ridge where it can become a CQB monster. Currently the scope blocks a lot of the view, and hinders its use at medium range. I don't also see an SVD with irons-only would be unrealistic, say it was damaged. Anyways, the Poor Man's Spotter (Alt Marksman kit) on the other hand, has none of the qualities of a good DMR with equally bad CQB sights and unlike the M4 DMR, lacks a bipod. Minding the rant, I and many others feel that the old iron sight SVD from 0.98 was very useful, same with the G3SG1, as they offered a crisp view with great medium-range accuracy to boot.

In one of these fine days VSS Vintorez and AS Val will be given Russian forces in PR... Maybe VSS for alt Marksman or std Spotter and AS Val for alt Breacher or alt Spotter. :)

Why was the G3 DMR removed from Taliban? Do they not use it in real life?

How about two kinds of bolt action snipers for the sniper kit and the SVD and G3 for the marksman? Feels a bit strange to have the bolt action snipers divided between the sniper and marksman kits.

The G3SG\1 is quite rare, even the actual G3 has only really been seen among Taliban commanders. I still don't understand why there cannot be iron-sight marksmen, such as the SVD. You also have joke kits like the G3SG\1 with the normal G3 optic, which offers neither range nor good CQB. If the QBU-88 and L86A2 work quite well as assault rifles, why can't we do the the same with everybody else?

I do miss my Iron Sight M14 EBR, that thing was better at CQB than M4s....but ya having a DMR that preforms as good, or better than the standard issue Rifle in CQB defeats the purpose of having a Marksman class.

I also find it odd that there no unscopped svd even in unconventional forces kits anymore.
Although I must say that I enjoy improvised marksman rifle from Militia's marksman alt and spotter kits.
