Win 7 1211 error

Hi guys. I'm having a problem with my updater. When I try to update the game a small window pops up with the following message:"1211:Error allocating local file. Cannot open file for writing".Can you guys tell me how to fix it?

If you have a file named 'update.lock' in S:\PR\mods\pr (location is probably not the same on your computer), delete it.

This could have something to do with your folders being read-only. PR's download folder here:

C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\Downloads

Make sure the folder isn't set to read-only (right-click the folder, properties, check-box called "read-only"). Un-check it if it's checked.

1.My game directory is D:\Project Reality BF2
2.In that "pr" folder i dont have any file named update.lock
3.I have made sure tha the "pr" and "Downloads" folders are not read only(the folders are in the main game directory)

And still doesn't fix the issue
What about manually installing the updates?

There are no public links for the patches, everything's done through the launcher unfortunately. I simply found an old thread describing your issue, so I really don't have any other ideas.

Hopefully someone else here will be able to help you, just be patient for now.

something is blocking your connection to accessing the server. do you have any anti virus/firewall? disable for the time being or whitelist prbf2.exe prlauncher.exe prupdater.exe and prmumble.exe

what version are you on right now?

1.Project Reality BF2 version is 1.3.1
2.My anti-virus and firewall were disabled
3.None of the four files have been whitelisted in the anti-virus

you need to whitelist those 4 files.


1.3.1 is old, the newest one that is available for download is 1.3.5. have you tried downloading that and testing?

make sure that when you are installing this, you are using an account with full admin access and disable AV/firewall for the time being to rule that out

Have you read the earlier posts in this thread? They worked for Vantagen.
