Part of being a squadleader ;)

After getting used to it, I noticed myself that I actually filtered it out myself, in my head.

This.

It will come naturally to you, or maybe not ;)

Go to mumble, right click on the annoying spammers and press local mute.

Good Afternoon,

While stompa's suggestion is a valid one, I would caution you against doing this because there are times when you need to hear the commander or another SL and the mute is in place.

Learning the ability to hear multiple things and only listen to what you need is important. I tend to do the * quite often but I would like to think that I have been slowly changing this habit.

I support this. Few more things:
1. The very first time you hear someone using all squad bton, don't hesitate - immediately alt tab local mute the guy. He will not stop spamming. He will not reason to you suggesting him not to spam. If he hasn't realized something so obvious by himself, he will definitely not get it, because you told him. Just mute him asap. If you think "well maybe it was just one time, maybe he'll stop doing it" - that will never happen. It will most likely turn worse as he gets in a fight.
2. Mute CO immediately also, the same as any SL. CO spamming is the worst thing that can happen to your team.
3. Don't forget to unmute people at the end, or beginning of the round. Mumble will not do this automatically.
4. It does not matter how polite you try to address people spamming, they will return insults. Remember, these people are either new, high/drunk, not very bright, or are in squads with very low to none communication. They usually use the spam button when they're down, and feel like saying something. Never argue, always mute them.
5. I usually end up with 5 SLs and CO muted. So far I have not been kicked or banned from a server for defending my right to being able to hear what my squadmates are saying, and hear the enemy. Few times I resigned from being a SL. If you get warned for not responding to a spammer, explain calmly you muted him cos you had to. If that doesn't work, leave SL position to a new spammer prick, and look for a squad named RECON lead by a sniper.

Funny thing is, I see more and more old PR vets playing in squads lead by snipers. :)

What the hell? Don't follow this guy's advice.

Noise is part of the battle. You are engaged in stress training. Your brain will filter needed information. If it becomes too much for you use the filter option. Practice, practice, practice.

The only filter you have at your disposal is telling spammers to shut up.

I think OP and KingKong are actually trying to play the game. If you are not looking for the "ultimate MilSim experience" why would you let people disrupt your gameplay by spamming mumble?

PR is not real life Cavazos. There are really useful tools that you can use to improve your gameplay, like muting spammers or kicking them from your squad. Why make it harder for yourself?

Mumble spam is an integral part of the game that you should embrace. /s

If someone doesn't shut up on mumble, simply mute them and you're done.

Remind people to use the numpad and to keep what they have to say short. There is no reason to spam global if you talk to trans or cas.

When I do it, it works faster and better than muting. When you do it, it makes life harder. We both have the same goal, but you have to mute or kick people to achieve it. I don't.

I heard a kid over SL radio saying:
"This is squad 5, squad 5 to all squads. We spot enemy movements in our sector, and we're about to attack em, over! :) "
I cannot express how joyful he sounded. It was a kid playing a game in which he is a lead actor in an awesome war movie, having a blast. As much as it was great for him, of course, for the most of the grumpy old PR vets this line is 100% spam. But hey, I could never tell him "OI STFU!" Not everyone who gets to play PR should dedicate endless hours to it. Some people just join and want some fun, with no bad intentions. That's perfectly ok.

Why I say never argue with spammers and why it never works: the same reason why you don't argue with e-mail spam. You block it as a spam, and that's it. You could (in theory) write hateful reply to every spam you receive, but it would take too much of your time.
Second thing, NEW GUYS IN PR ARE NOT TO BLAME FOR THE EXISTENCE OF THE SPAM SPAM SPAM BUTTON ( * ). If there would be a button on your phone to call and talk to everyone in your area, would you be pissed off at the kid using it, or the people who thought it would be useful to deliver such a spamfest option?

Also, nobody in the world like being told to STFU. Nobody. In most cases, you're gonna get an answer pumped up with mindless profanity. So don't argue. Mute... until *someone* finally removes the spam button.

Nice story.

As Kong says, telling someone to actually STFU will have the opposite effect and there is no point to arguing in PR. Arguing only clutters comms. The only thing that helps in PR is being a people person who knows how to verbally communicate with others.

Arguing and telling people to STFU never actually works.

You're right. That's why you mute them if they become a problem. It's their fault if everybody's game experience suffers because they can't shut their mouth for ten seconds.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.
