Bring back variable fire right on bipod weapons?

Post by piratepengu »

Back before 1.0 the full auto L86 was great to have in the squad, and plus it was more realistic since IRL the L86 is used as a hybrid automatic rifle and marksman rifle. Also having the old single fire back on the RPK would be nice so I can snipe with it.

It's been said multiple times this is because maglinked weapon bugs. We want it too, but not happening.

Frankly, with an LMG I don't see the value in single shot modes when a burst is going to be more effective given the deviation and hitreg in this game...

But if it still happens with this way, why not bring the firemodes back?

I use AR a lot and I have this issue every now and then. Reloading the gun and still having an empty mag.

Bring it back, as it still happens on deployable weapons like M249

It's kind of silly that the RPK is auto only and the L86 is single fire, when they are essentially the same type of weapon.

Just no full Auto HAMAS Marksman M4A1, that shit was OP

What about pulling an MG34, always deployed, and set the deviation somewhere in the middle?

Does the MG-34 have firemodes by the way? Because it should.

I thought about this too. Even for marksmans.

Yes it does.
Also I agree with everyone. It seems just as buggy now as it used to, and now we have a magazine check button so that should help to prevent the issue, why not just bring them back? Back before the MG kit was around having an L110 and an L86 was great, not to mention realistic, as the L86 is specifically designed to be used as a hybrid LMG/DMR, but in PR we only get the DMR aspect of it.

I suspect the L86 wasn't specifically designed to do anything other than make the sa80 series of rifles appeal to politicians more than it's competitors.

If we were going to argue realism then the l86 wouldn't even be in the game. It's not used in combat. Even if it was it wouldn't be used in the lmg role, i.e. semi auto only.
The minimi para and l129a1 do a better job. Sadly we don't have the l129a1.

The L86 is still occasionally used in combat but only very occasionally and it was designed to be a direct replacement of the L4A4 Bren LMG, but the Minimi does a far better job in the LMG role. But the British had no Designated Marksman Rifle so the L86 was used as a designated marksman rifle for a time and did quite well in that role, but it has been replaced by the l129a1 in that role now and as such, hardly sees combat any more.

I never experienced the bug before when weapons had variable firemodes and were linked, so I would really like it brought back aswell, and if it causes glaring issues it can be reverted just as easily.

Kinda funny in the USMC the M249 was replaced by the M27IAR, which is in respects a similar type of weapon to the L86 (A LMG Marksman Hybrid)
