That's understandable, BASED NA was like that, we needed admins for OCE time zones, but we didn't have the server populated when we didn't have admins. The we spun it like this "we want admins for OCE times one, if you enjoy playing here and want to admin this timezone send X a message" sure enough, we now sit on 10 oceanic admins.

I really dont get you. You feel insulted that I spelled your name wrong in a post at 04:00 in the morning, using the z instead of x, btw, z and x are placed next to each other on a keyboard. Yet you find nothing wrong with your own constant trolling on the server....Trolling is just a natural state to you isnt it?

Its not* that he finds it insulting, anyone can mistype x and z, its that you had to go on and patronize him afterwards.

So it's mere coincidence after doing it previously and adding in your condescending messages about it hmmm?

You brought up a number of logs and none of them were me trolling yet you keep using that word without any evidence. If you are an admin it does not excuse you from following the server rules now does it? Other admins are very capable of administrating and following the server rules at the same time. What makes you so special that you can ignore rules that other admins follow and punish players by saying they're trolling when they point it out.

HOG is currently the server i play for more time. It has a low ping and admins are almost active on the schedule that i play. But some times, i play in another popular server like PRTA, Based NA/EU, NWA, FCV, and all servers have good matches and bad matches (unbalanced). My complaint is not about administrative problems, punishment or player base/teamwork. It's about VOTEMAP.

Often, it seems that votemap is the admin taste. Every day always we play this maplist:

Muttrah
Saarema
Op. Marlin
Dovre_Winter
Kozelsk
Sbeneh
Battle_of_Ia_Drang
Asad_Khal
Fallujah
Karbala

It is very rare to see the server running during the afternoon/evening (US time) Xiangshan, Shijialag, Suol_Rebel, Wandasha, Black_Gold, Assault_on_Mestia, Bijar, Dragon_Fly, Hades_Peak, Lashkar_Valey, Iron_Ridge, Pavlovsk_Bay, Vadso_City etc.

I hope the admins can improve a little the votemap, and make a "mix" between a very played map with a few played map... with different styles. Example:

Muttrah
Pavlovsk_bay
Kashan
Dragon_Fly
Bijar
Vadso_city
Lashkar_Valey
Black_Gold
Assalt_on_Mestia
Khamisiyah
Silent_Eagle
Beirut
Kozelsk
Burning Sands
.......

Even when I am working, i can see which maps are players, and often see the HOG server running Muttrah and Saarema 2 or 3 times in 15 hours.

May be can create one "rule" and admins cant select one map was played on the last 10 hours. Its easy to check the logs and see the last !setnext command used. One friend have on php page, and on this page it has a script that shows simplified the last !setnext. Further facilitate the admins. If you want, i can send to you.

Sorry my basic and bad english. Thanks.

yeah Danesh, you are right, i do instruct the admins to ask for suggestions on the maps but i guess one flaw could be we get the same maps over again, and if the admin picks the maps im sure they arent his most unfavorite maps he is picking either.

It is a topic that is always on our minds for an improved way of doing that.

Sigh, lets just stay in each ones reality. You still dont get it. And im getting tired of having a argument where you just ignore the facts.

If you dont understand "trolling" from both your actions as described and from the logs that show you trolling, then I cant help you.

What I often do is switch out and look at database and then chose maps from there, the ones i dont remember the names of.

People cant set up or suggest a map they cant remember, and hence by logic name or select the one they do, which of course is one played often. But the problem is often that the maps that we rarely play is also the maps no one wants to play.

If I put up xian or Mestina which is not played often, ppl complain and wants kashan or muttrah.

Yes, exactly! You need to doing one "mix" of best maps that people like with different maps. That way you make both sides happy.

What By_Zaca said... that is the only "issue" I have with HOG is the overplayed maps. I say do not play a map within 12 hours. (Replay that is.). If the players cry about it tell them to suck it up and go rent their own server.

Or maybe mix a vote up instead of Insurgency AAS...

Xiangshan (AAS), Iron Ridge (INS), Khamisiyah AAS ALT

OR..... how about you guys make it so members on your forum vote for maps to be played?
(Have a preset mapvotes based on the members on the forum's feedback.)

:-/ I don't see issues with that one tho, I always type 'AAS maps?' or 'INS maps?' after a vote and let the players suggest a selection of maps; well that being said I should just be creative and put an intermediate map among the selection players brought up. I will be looking out in the future.

(Though when your brain shut down after/during a one-sided steamroll and just want the mapvote to be done sooner before the round ends.)

NO! I DII'NT! M8!

Had to get that out of the way, haha.

On a serious note, the server is run pretty well during peak hours imo. New maps do need to get in rotation, which I have brought up with Haley a few times and usually get a "we play the maps that will fill the server" response. Which is fine, I don't think there is a map in PR that I do not like. No one likes to listen to The Dark Side of the Moon 10 times in one weekend, no matter how great it is.

That being said, I'd like to see some maps like this:

Dragon Fly Ins
Dragon Fly Inf
Silent Eagle Inf
Bijar, Black Gold and Burning Sands Inf
Iron Ridge Ins
Lashkar Ins
Muttrah Large
Nuijamaa Inf
Operation Archer
Saaremaa Inf could be cool
Silent Eagle Large

Also, good on the HOG admins for not exploding on people giving the feedback. We're human beings, so it's only nature to get pissed off or defensive when being criticized, but it makes you stronger. Hopefully we can get some new maps into the rotation, and stop voting all together.

+1.

I'm not pointing out certain admins though. I just think a more variety would be best for the server. I think What Priceline said really is how I wouldnt' mind it being. Having more infantry layouts and less played INS/AAS maps. But Please play more Dragon Fly, just please.

Oh, I will. Haley, stop putting Asad Khal in the mapvote so often. We get you have an Asad hard-on, but come on dude! Haha, I can always tell who is doing the map vote if Asad is in it.

vehicle warfare seems to be very unpopular. The CNC game mode is what your talking about on the single fob and is a gamemode that very few know how to play.

The pub players dont understand or care to play this way. it requires very good team cohesion and support to play it. We have played it in the past on a public game and it turns into a mess. It is great fun but this mode is generally reserved for matches and such. Hell, i dont think even the pr tournament even plays that, at least they didnt last year.

Every now and then when we sense the teams are a good match we'll throw up CNC on the map vote. But, I have only played CNC once on =HOG= and it was a lot of fun!
