I don't see what's wrong with similar uniforms and they are not even that similar. The weapons are very different as well. This is one of those maps that require you to always be on alert. I like it.

Re: Apologies, but Dovre Blows
Actually Dovre for me is one of PR's "new" (in my world a map is "new" if it was released in a version later then PR 0.91 as the highly symbolic 0.91 was the birth of Mouthpiece, the PR noob) maps that I really haven't enjoyed (come to think of it, I can't think of a different "new" map that I dislike, I mean if we're talking AAS; I tend not to play INS).
I gotta admit, the number of times I've played Dovre could be counted on both of my hands fingers, but even when there was good teamwork going on and the enemy team didn't let us steamroll them, I still had this "stale" feeling while playing it.
Don't get me wrong, this is one of the most immersive and beautiful maps in PR. But I feel that in terms of gameplay it's lacking a bit. Of course, It could be my relative inexperience with this particular map (see, I haven't played that much after standalone). Or maybe I have no clue about what makes a map good, but maybe it's just a matter of preference ("my perfect PR gameplay" isn't one with lots of CQC and low view distance - here it feels like we're a bunch of headless chickens as in my experience this map gets too crowded in typical areas of interest (easily defendable areas, enterables, etc.)
Maybe it's just me and low view distance maps. I feel that PR core game play suffers the types of matches I had - they could be summerized in these semi-nonsensical words: "Crowded as F! Tactical blob to the win, swarm the enterables/ houses, put some guys on a vigil, F yeah, round's over, we've won/lost)".
I have this feeling that some of the flags doesn't have a relevance at all - from gameplay perspective some flags really seemed like the "grind->rush'n'swarm an enterable->defend" stale gameplay I'm writing about in the paragraph above.
Sorry for the essay, I still haven't learned to make my point across in virtual space with writing (no probs with speaking as I tend to forget English words and therefore It's a necessity that I speak in short, easily understandable sentences because if not, I'll prolly will choke on a word sooner or later in a life and death scenario, and my squad will get wiped out and everyone will think I'm a noob SL and that I should go play against bots in CO-OP; hah, 'tis not so bad, just humoring!).
EDIT:
Well, seems like my argument about the fact that you have to go on an overdrive micro mode if you're shepherding 7 other people in Dovre and coordinating on Mumble with other SLs, plus, as PatrickLA_CA precisely noted - this map requires much more greater attention from player, especially one who is somewhat microing few others while trying to encourage squaddies to take positions with best situational awareness. Because it is the thing between a quick and merciless death by enemies who are better at what they're doing or between living on and telling the (odd) story. Again, excuse my paragraphs. I wish I wouldn't wan't to say sorry about writing boring, long posts that are like a politicians speech - one idea that are raped betwixt different paragraphs and angles.
TL;'DR: Go read a friggin book (PM for recommendations). Trust me, you'll learn to write stupid long-*** posts too.

Re: Apologies, but Dovre Blows
I appreciate the points you guys have described, but TBH I really like dovre. It looks nice and plays just fine IMO. Some of the flags do put you in strange places on the map but beside that I have no issues.
As for telling between friend or foe, I've never really had a problem on Dovre. The russian faces are really white and their weapons different. Small infantry focussed maps are useful for seeding or quiet times of the day. That being said I am a sneaky infantry player so my opinions might be biassed.
Telling the difference between FR and CH on Xiangshan night map, now there is a challenge.
Cheers, Murkey.

Re: Apologies, but Dovre Blows
Well, at least we all can come to an agreement that Dovre is one of the most beautiful PR maps. But to keep this closer to the topic (and not only because of that): (some of) the flags really could be revised. Both the strange place ones (the ones that doesn't have any strategic/tactical logic, nor common sense). Maybe think about stretching out some typical walking paths in some AAS4 routes so people get a bit more variety of firefights. As I noted (but seems like I'm the only one who thinks so) - PR is cooler when the player has more possibilities to, for example, while defending the flag choosing the approx.place of engagement - be it a total CQC panicfest or the PR's loveliest mid range fighting - yes, there's too much CQB and too little mid/long. I understand that the geography of map prevents serious long range fighting and that's why I'm vouching for medium ranges.
Was it supposed to be East Germany represented in Dovre? (can't think that some cruel being would send Germans to fight for clay to East AGAIN and AGAIN; well, WWI E frontilnes weren't really that far East - it barely scratched the border of modern Latvia and Russia (the E border of so called Reichskommissariat Ostland witch was a mighty puppet-union of Baltic's 3 most powerful and influential states, although one war later: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and the best heavy tech maker in the Europe - our lovely "fuck the democratical political processes and HR's, this is friggin Belarus, not some whiny sterile homoerotic novel about a magical fairy tale country called Belarus!" Тосты за вашу колективную здоровье, и пожалсто пеитйи менше шнабс, ит из бредно для трактороф и трактористоф, мои друзья!")
