Bluedrake42 ? =DRK= Community

We've finally redone and upgraded our website and forums. The application systems, as well as group, and administration systems will be added over the coming days. This is a huge hurdle for us that we've finally crossed, so I think you'll finally start seeing Free Candy Van (as well as our other servers) much more healthy with a solid forum and site backend to support our staff.

These past few weeks we've essentially been without a forum, and have been coordinating through Discord... which is great but not in any way ideal. Now that we're much more set up, we'll be much more capable of maintaining the server, and expanding our playerbase.

Thanks for the patience and support everyone, we're not out of the woods yet but we're closer than we've ever been before. <3

Mario_Carlos_sanchez has been mass TKing right now (12:21am central time...I think? Whatever San Antonio is :P )

Just a quick report from in-game, deserves a perma ban on all servers :P

We're moving to a new VPS with higher memory to see if that'll fix the crashing issues.

VPS? this is why FCV have so many lag problems. How much do you pay on this "VPS" ?

Zaca we've been running PR off of a VPS for 2 years, and until we corrupted our Ubuntu OS you haven't noticed any more issues than any other PR server.

There's no reason to run a PR on a 300$ dedicated linux box that only utilizes one core. We have a dedicated server with 8 cores split into 8 VPS units spanning from Windows 2012, Windows 2008, Ubuntu 14, and Ubuntu 12, to power servers that function ideally for each respective operating system.

If you want me to spend 400$ a month for each of those servers, then feel free to shower me with a few tens of thousands of dollars. Until then we're going to run our servers off virtualized servers like everyone else in the entire world.

When you say VPS, i think is this: https://www.ovh.com/us/vps/

In fact, you have multiple VM (virtual machine) and not a VPS (Virtual Private Servers).

What Dedicated Server and what Virtualization system you have?

I say that, because so many players in all world have some connection issues and lag (by cpu server) in some maps (Silent Eagle, WandaShan, Shijiavaley for example).

My suggestion based in OVH Datacenter (your current data center):
https://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/game/
MC-32 - Intel i7-4790K - $79.00
VMWARE ESXi (FREEE!)

Obs: VMWARE ESXi 5.5.0 build 2068190 dont have the delay issue to load next map.

I did not have opportunity to test PRServer in VMWARE ESXi 6 yet.

And IF you run only PRServer in a VM, have at least 2vcpu. One vcpu dedicated to PRServer, and another one to the system and mumble.

When i administered one PRComunity, i used VMWARE with only 2vcpu, 2GB VRAM and 30gb HD.

Right now we use SolusVM. I forget what our dedicated server hardware specifications are but I assure you they're very much above average. Bren would know. I only know when I bought them, but that was a long time ago.

We're very proud of our dedicated VMware setup, it took us a long time to build, but gives us a lot of flexibility, even though we don't entirely know how to run it yet, and we're still learning as we go along (hence why there are usually issues)

but having the ability to create VM's on demand for each of our tiny subcommunities has been pretty fantastic.

Yes, VM's make your life more easy and flexible.

Wait, SolusVM or VMWare? I am confused now. If is SolusVM, now he know who cause the connection/lag problems... I DONT recommend SolusVM to create VM to host game servers (especially old games, as BF2/PR).

The secret to have one good PRServer without lag is: Use one machine with SUPER power per core. Dont matter if you have one cpu with 24 cores and this core dont have much power per single thread.

This link show you what processor have the best core/thread power: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html

We use SolusVM. I don't know of any other software, and now we're too entrenched with what we have to just up and change on a dime.

No I know the crashing is normal, we were having other weird issues however. Like accounts locking us out, Battle-recorder filling up the harddrive and lagging the server, among other things. Hopefully all issues that will be fixed with a higher drive allocation.
