Mumble and TS blocked by ISP

Post by Fatal-M »

Hey guys,

So I'm sort of in a pickle here. My ISP recently blocked both applications mentioned in the title, I called their technical support but the representatives don't know jack about the issue I'm going through.

That said, I was able to bypass my issues by creating a VPN on Windows 10 and using a connection through Germany. However as you're all aware that increases pings/latency for everything and it's not ideal for gaming.

Now I noticed an option for proxy in Mumble but couldn't find a server that works, the ones I found by searching the realitymod forums are outdated and thus not working.

Can you guys help me with sorting this out? Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks in advance.

At the risk of sounding like an uneducated technician

Have you tried forwarding the ports on your router?
[cringes in case gets slapped for suggesting that as being an issue]

Good luck to you on getting this resolved..

I'll be interested in knowing why an ISP would feel the need to block these programs
Unless God forbid the world's governments are cracking down on PR like I used to think / maybe still think

First, I have already tried the solution posted in the thread you shared and that didn't solve the problem. Putting a proxy in Mumble actually just disabled it altogether. And by disabled I mean that mumble wasn't even able to pull the server info on the connect menu.

Second, I haven't forwarded the ports because the connection was being rejected after trying to connect to the server. Keep in mind that I am currently in Jordan and not Germany, weirdly I've never had an issue with internet restrictions before and this is the first time an ISP does something like this. That said, I doubt there's a global crackdown on voip solutions xD

Finally, I just noticed that another thread was created with the exact same issue, I replied back on there as well. Perhaps a MOD can merge the threads? or maybe delete/close one of them?

I appreciate the response. Thanks guys.

Problem is that most big VPN providers are blocked too. I know that from my time in Muttrah in Oman :D
Probably the best you can get. Buy VPN access.

Out of curiosity can you ping -t mumble.info and open that URI in browser?

I can ping both mumble.info/.com and teamspeak.com without any issues, however, accessing mumble.info and teamspeak.com through the browser is not possible. mumble.com on the other hand works.

Also, I previously went through the following cmd commands but it didn't change anything:
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh commands to reset configs

I am not sure if it would do anything, but its not hard thing to do and worth a try.

Change your DNS in IPv4 on your adapter to google open DNS.

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or was it 4.4.4.4 then flush DNS and reset /renew. If you can change this on your modem /router even better. Looks like TCP traffic is blocked, Ill see in PR mumble if we can get around that. But if it fails VPN is the only solution, provided its not blocked too.

Edit: Try to force TCP mode ( after you change DNS ) in PR Mumble.

Launch PR Mumble manually from the install folder. It will crash if you do it from the launcher ( does for me ) and go to Configure > Network > Force TCP mode. If that fails dont forget to revert it back.

voice.teamspeak.com doesnt work with TS3 also?

Are you sure it was your ISP? Did you check your firewall settings.

HERE! Here I said **** was going to do down in Jordan next year, that the US is going to get involved, that Hillary will be the president (voting is fake) <-- (I said that in another post that got closed somewhere), that games like PR are going to get censored just like the DDOS bombardment it went through, Youtube will be censored, la de da, moderators came in and silence me and the discussion, saying IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH PR but look at where we are now, people in Jordan are being separated by the rest of the world because

**** WILL GO DOWN IN JORDAN
ISIS, US, ISIS=US, Jordanians, Russian-backed Jordan militia (the good guys in this terrorist conflict perhaps or maybe there are no good guys in war)
All for its whatever fossil fuel resources it has, next year
All to make some rich businesspeople richer
Hillary will get a cut in some that

People are going to die and the Internet will be silent about it
Free expression also pulverized, because **** the people

Apologies for the late reply, sort of got swept away with other things.

That said, I have come to the conclusion that my ISP is NOT blocking anything. I have called different staff personnel and all went through my issue and confirmed that everything is unblocked.

Moving forward, weirdly enough I was able to get TS working again after I did a hard reset on the router from the back of the device. TS is now working fine without any issues, however, Mumble is still refusing to connect. I can ping the server and can see the number of users but it just disconnects me automatically after trying to connect to the PR server. I tried using Google's open DNS on both the adapter and through the router, that didn't solve the problem.

Also, this is the server IP I'm using for PR:
136.243.177.194:64740

I was going through other posts on the internet and found a log file called console.txt in AppData. Below is the log for my latest attempt to join a server.

I sure hope so, that it stays that way and that Russians/US/ISIS dressed as mercenaries aren't going to be marching around all over the place or blowing up stuff

What I heard is that some of our Army people are going to be going over there providing mortar support (? for whom?? I think I know..)

Please be safe, I didn't/don't want any of this and no one is voting for that witch who will soon take the White House

Guys we gotta get Fatal back in the battlefield. Any more willing to help? The fella needs a high octane dose of PR and can't get it. He might go ISIS on us all if he doesn't get in PR. :D

Heres my mumble showing address - it is of course the GDO server in my Gametracker bar below

I couldn't find the same file in my appdata - can you guide me more to compare.
