Any way to reduce lag ?

Post by ZektorSK »

Hello There !

I have been having serious lags last days, so I reduced my graphics settings to the lowest, and turned on just the antialiasing 2x... it run quite normally for a short time, now I am back to game and it is extremly lagging when I am looking at a smoke, or the way a big battle is...

Is there any solution for this ? I have problems with spotting enemies in long distance, so I am playing on the best resolution.

Did it make any difference when you reduced your settings? Not sure if I'm correct here but don't you also have to delete the contents in the cache folder?

I personally have a good setup but I still get some lag on certain servers.

Yep, it really improved my FPS, but the problem with looking at smoke still occured.

BF2/PR onyl uses one core to my knowledge, so depending on your rig there might only be so much you can do. It's quite limited, but that's what you get with an old game ;D

One thing you could maybe try is putting your power usage on performance mode. Not entirely sure how much it'll help though. I'm not a huge hardware guy but maybe post your specs too if you can. I believe in the launcher there is a support section that allows you to copy your specs right to clipboard so you can paste em here too.

I'm not sure what to suggest, maybe a better graphics card. I'm sure a few others will be a long to post a few recommendations. Good luck.

I edited the thread, my specs are there.
How do I put power usage into perfomance mode ?

In my opinion first thing to do is check your hardware, go to userbenchmark and download and run the little benchmark tool, then it will compare your computer to identical ones so you know if you have a problem.

I thought that it was more the CPU which creates problems but maybe in your case with the smoke and a pretty old GPU it is graphics power. This a new problem so run malware bytes and check your update history where have you been and what has changed on your machine - is it clean?

Good Evening,

Since 1.3.x, you really really need more memory. I went from 8GB RAM to 16GB RAM to reduce my lag. Also, your video card needs at least 1GB. You can get these most places in the states for around $30.

Yes, I know that PR isn't supposed to be able to address more than xxGB of RAM due to the old engine, but it worked for me.
