stutter / lag only when playing multiplayer

Hello
I have lag/stutter when playing online multiplayer . if I play the offline servers ( opnly with boots0 it is perfect.
the problem is only when playing multiplayer

I will 2check the wifi connection.

My specs are-
Dell latitude e6540 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4310M CPU @ 2.70 GHz
8 GB Ram

everything was working perfectly up until last week .....then that lag just started without any changes from my side

Try hard wired, in our house with numerous tablets twice now tablets have been doing something to completely saturate the net.

Switch off all other WiFi devices reboot modem.

Check your computer for a possibly virus related program running unknown.

The reason for the problem was my stupid new Microsoft mobile phone.....if the phone is on the game lags. So I have to keep it switched off...probably the issue was the WiFi as you sugested

Cool a few times now I've had wifi saturating the internet, first time was my wife's tablet trying to download a big blog full of photos, some **** about Google plus....

Now one of my first actions if the wired internet is slow is to go to the default router address

191.168.1.1 and switch of wifi to see.

Does your router have QOS? Try to turn it off and see if it'll fix it.

Also you could try updating the firmware, although you would need to backup the settings in case anything goes wrong, and if you are on adsl, keep a copy of the login information before upgrading

Another thing you could try is disabling features you don't use in the router like media sharing features. Disabling those does put less load through the router, and may improve stability.
