AAs not working

Post by [GER]Birnd »

Dunno if intentional but the Stinger and Strela dont track when locked, sometimes the Missle doesnt even spawn.

This behavior being investigated, we have noticed that players lately dont know how to use handheld weapons at all. Seems to be hardcoded.

Missiles do track, but it's require stable lock rather than just fire when weapon deploy delay ended.
Missile always spawn, but if you're looking in ground or being too close to obstacle you might be hitting them.

Time to give up and respawn.

Good pilots simply know how to avoid AA

No, AA works, just not with the intended way. Wait to get a lock on and you'll miss, fire unguided with some lead and have more chance of hitting since the missile acquires lock while in the air. It's retarded.

It will explode if it gets close enough as the missiles have proximity fuse to aircrafts. However it will never lock on and follow the aircraft unless you shoot after lock.

U can wait for the lock sound it will just fly straight anyway. Try it on Beirut as IDF. Did it 5 times in a row on HOG. We took down the Cas eventually, with the Hat kit.

This is a man who has scored kills with Handheld AA.

You don't lock onto your target but hope for the missle to lock in-flight, now this may have been changed since I don't normally take AA (I used to take the kit all the time). It's basically about trying to predict the right angle to have the pilot fly "into view" of the missile, by that I mean try to figure a spot in the sky that the jet will fly through and time the launch of your AA so that it is on the way to the point in the sky while the jet reaches the same air space.

Choppers are rather different. You want to hold onto your missile until he has run out of flairs or you are in a position that the chopper will be between you and the flairs it is deploying. It's pretty much the go to strategy for any engagement with AA (even an emplacement). If the air crew can get flairs between you and them you hold onto your shot and use the sensors to frustrate and scare the pilot. This will often lead to mistakes of both parties, like the AA guy fires all missiles and loses his defensive capabilities as well as gives his position away, or the Pilot becoming a victim to his nerves and dives in/out of the battle space exposing himself as he creates too much distance between him and his defensive measures.

TLDR: A patient AA guy is a winning AA guy, and the ability to lead fast moving aircraft as if you were firing a rocket in Quake is how to win with Handheld.

AA is a religious organization that sees drinking as a disease, maybe try drinking in moderation.
