Real Light doesn't use 3D LUT palettes and depends on more shaders. Real Dust was based on PR GEM which itself is a MasterEffect ReShade and which itself is a ReShade 1.1.

You can use any version for personal use only, no commercial use of course. All of these presets and mods forbid sale and uncredited distribution. You can also make own preset as it's not that hard.

As for the spoiler, I really need that in the thread. Don't want to lag loadup times but also don't want to remove old screenshots as they showcase changes over versions. I saw threads with spoilers and I'd like to add spoilers to mine.

No need to thank me.

He responded for v1 of the mod which really didn't have much color but since v2 I found a way to fix this. Now the mod has a lot more color and there's an optional switch you can use to add even more color than the vanilla -.-

V5 is up ;)

V5 brings several new features and fixes. Lens dirt was moved to other method and mixed with 3D lens glare for better realism, now it appears only with very bright objects and the flash is more intense but measured. There is a new filter called anamorphic glare which aims to emulate offlection that appears on high def optics or quality goggles by live reflecting environment subtly, measured it to fit with RD. I also added fisheye effect (curves screen) to help fix game FOV and add optical feel to vehicle HUD details this is experimental so let me know if you don't like it. V5 also features Gaussian light leaking commonly seen in games today, helps emulate light reflections on objects. I also optimized texture size and rendering, improving performance on some systems. There are now new switches to use.

As a bonus I ported RealDust to SWAT 4 :D

The v1 of S4 port was based on V5 and uses effects in a more agressive and intense form making for more cinematic/headcam feel than usual RealDust experience thus improving an old game by a lot.

As usual you can find all changes, download links and screens in main thread description. For v6 I plan on implementing true or better light rays and other improvements, I also plan on porting RD to BF2142 and RedOrchestra 2.

Just added RealDust port version for Red Orchestra 2 :)

It was based on v5 and uses custom settings as well as an extra texture. The mod helps warm up RO2 color and remove the "blurry feel" of that game which is IMHO best ww2 game on Steam, a worthy mention is Forgotten Hope 2 mod for which I also recommend using RD for PR as it's yet another awesome BF2 mod.

Here's some screen highlights. You can find more in main thread:

My eyes...Horribly bright, too much special effects, lens flare on lens flare, cannot see anything...I cannot play with this for more than 10 seconds, my eyes hurt from this.

I agree with IAmNotMatthew, WAY too much lens flare. I think I'd be better off shining a flashlight at my monitor while I am aiming. Might have to wear sun glasses if I ADS. Tested it out early today and it hurt my eyes. Will try out RO2 though, that looks VERY beautiful.

Matty, no, I tried RO2, it's almost the same, can be worse, I had the brightness on 110% and it looked like this, I had to move the brightness down to 90% to be able to see something, the chat is distorded, looks like it's 3D when I'm not wearing 3D glasses, special effects make aiming hard, you ADS and you get blinded by lens flares. You need to decrease the brightness below 75%, if you decrease that much you won't see anything, but special effects.

Thanks for the feedback.

I found it really strange that some users report the brightness to be too high yet others told me it's perfect and the mod makes the colors come up.

So I did a research on the topic.

It turns out that:

- The mod works differently on different hardware and is mostly affected by resolutions.
- Each monitor type responds differently.
- Although not recommended, most people crank their monitor settings (brightness, contrast, luma) way up to 100%, for a record I use 50% brightness and 100% contract but on others even lower values, this helps produce natural light. There is a tool to help you automatically adjust these for your monitor and make it's colors corrected, more info bellow.
- Different GPUs behave differently with the mod.

I am currently working on v6 for PR, this time around I am testing the mod on multiple monitors, different resolutions etc. I've found a solution but it needs to be balanced further and this takes time.

Until v6 is out, here's what you can and should do in general sense:

- Lower your ingame brightness to default.
- Lower your monitor brightness (if it's maxed out) to optimal one.
- Use RealDust switches to turn items that are annoying to you, you can find these in the main thread. Most affecting are bloom and flares/glares.
- Switch the RD mod in-game off using ScrollLock key when you don't want it to interfere with your interface.

There's a gadget that can automatically balance your monitor settings and profiles for you. These are pretty cheap to buy. I've used some on my designer monitors on the workstation as this job requires extreme precision but it never hurts to do this yourself too. While pricing can range from 20 USD to 300 USD, you don't really need expensive one, just the most basic thing will do.

They are called Color Calibrators, but good ones can fix your brightness and contrast too - https://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1 ... alibration

Here's how it works - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RUVrRM0Njk

If you're on the budget, there are plenty of video tutorials that show you how to calibrate specific monitor settings.

I would also like to explain how RealDust (ReShade) works, in most plain laymans terms possible:

RealDust does not interact with 3D objects in the game at all, what it does is it intercepts frames your GPU has pre-rendered but not "uploaded" to your PC and it applies various calculations, overlays and then uploads the frame for display. Since it doesn't interact with 3D space, it uses pixels to react, here's examples.

For bloom - RD goes "hey I see a white pixel brighter than usual, does it have friends? If yes, let me make it glow"
For sharpening - RD goes "hey there are random dark pixels, do they have too many friends? If not, let me give them some"
For color correction - RD goes "hey this yellow color is too yellow and contrasted, looks cartoony, let me replace it with sandy yellow, hey this sky is too blue looks like paint and not natural sky, let me replace it with cyan-blue"
For lens flare - RD goes "hey these pixels are in center and very bright, let's add them some nice 3D effects and remove other effects until these are gone"

And so on, you get the idea. Each filter in RD (ReShade) uses multiple matrixes and calculations for every frame, thus the process is complex, however since it relies on pixel count it will be affected by your resolution hence RealDust is optimized for 720p to 1080p. Also, since RealDust relies on pixels, it cannot smartly see that you are in a bright menu it will think it's skyline or explosion, equally it cannot intelligently know you are looking at ground or sky, it relies on color patterns and settings I've made in my preset. So keep this in mind. RealDust is not fix-it-all solution but a rather one-for-all that aims to improve certain elements of your game, however this costs processing power and may not work with all game elements as a result.

I will publish v6 when it's ready.

While testing and optimizing v6 for PR I decided I'd do something different and push the mod to extremes. Thus I began messing with RealDust for Battlefield 4 what I found out was pretty awesome. I could edit the mod live in windowed mode of the game and see instant changes but not only that the mod helped me return and even improve Battlefield 3 colors into BF4 among adding new effects in an already effect heavy game.

As a result I am adding another port and you can download it in the main thread.

Pros:

- The biggest improvement is sharpener which enhances Battlefield's blurry textures and helps with models.
- Makes the color more vibrant and alive.
- For some maps like metro it brings back the BF3 feel, while in others it achieves the "Siege" feel in cqb.
- Makes already existing effects in game enhanced by forcing them.
- Adds new filters.

Cons:

- Since BF4 uses adaptive HDR you may have trouble with the mod in snow maps. If the mod is too bright you will have to lower down in-game brightness (mine is at 70% default)
- Slightly impacts performance, I play the game almost everything on Ultra, some set on High and I noticed that the mod drops between 10-20 frames from usual.
- When taking a screenshot with the mod on you will receive a huge lag spike that will last for about 3-4 seconds hence I got the FPS issue symbol in screens bellow.
- Works only with 64bit version of BF4, for 32bit use the RD for PR dll and rename it to dxgi.dll in BF4 RD port.

The mod was based on v6 of Real Dust which is still WIP as I want to make sure v6 fixes the dreaded "brightness" issue.

After extended testing v6 is up.

I tested this version on multiple monitors and systems. It took awhile but it helped a lot. It seems there is no perfect solution for all so I aimed for the middle best setting. V6 brings colors back, makes shadows darker, tones down brightness levels etc.

This is a major update.

RealDust is now a bundle, you can download all versions of it with a single link, or if you wish you can open the archive online and download only folders of interest.

What's new in v6 core:

- Added Luma Abs Curves to balance shadows.
- Added Gamma and Tone limitter to balance brightness and color intensity further.
- Toned down aural vignette.
- Improved lightmap lens texture to include omni rays.
- Adjusted REINHARD filter.

New ports and updates:

v6 BUNDLE contains updated version for ArmA 2 (v3) , updated version for PR (v6) and new preset called PURE. PURE aims to bring only core enhancements without adding special effects or altering color, if you just want your game's textures sharper this is perfect to you. PURE can be used with any recent game.

Future:

For v7 BUNDLE I plan on making BF 2142 port and potentially adjusting RD core. Also possible is GTA5 port (no promises) as well as new special preset.

V7 BUNDLE is up

This update brings changes and new additions, listed bellow.

UPDATES:

- RD for Project Reality to v7, it now uses a new filter called Chapman lens which uses chromatic abberation and the old 3D lens texture as well as other filter adjustments.
- RD for ArmA 2 to v3 , uses advantage of newer RD ports and further balances filtration.
- RD for Battlefield 4 to v2 , uses full v6 port functionality and includes FPS tweaks as well as photorealistic filter adjustments (in particular for urban maps like Siege of Shanghai)

NEW ADDITIONS:

- RD for Battlefield 2142 based on v6 , enhances this awesome game up a notch. Some of the best music in a game of the series.
- RD for War Thunder based on v6 and v7a , aims to improve an already good looking game (which is free to play btw)

NEW SPECIAL PORTS:

- RD HELMETCAM aims to emulate the worn-on old school helmetcam feel live, it's very accurate to the old helmet cams used. If you ever wanted to record realistic combat footage use this.
- RD CINEMATIC makes for a movie cinematic feel that Michael Bay would envy. The effects vary from game to game, generally newer games are much better with this port.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

During testing I noticed that not all games always play well with ReShade, which may explain why some of you get brighter settings in the games as the dll misbehaves on some nVidia cards. In such case I cannot address the issue but if you do encounter glitches I can potentially fix them for you. You can try differend dll files from ReShade.me website (use 1.1 version)

War Thunder:

BF2142:

HELMETCAM (used with BF4):

CINEMATIC (used with PR, didn't have much time to test but looks better with bf4 forgot to make screens):

UPDATE:

RealDust BUNDLE is now v8.

I guess just in time for year's end when you're available to play games :P

Anyhow. This update brings several major changes to individual presets but no new features. Full list bellow.

NEW:

GTA 5, which comes in 2 modes, ORIGINAL which uses basic filters and enhances GTA5 grading and HD which uses advanced filters including ambient occlusion (off by default?) and other filters. Both of them are great and I found myself unable to play without this.

UPDATED:

Pretty much every port was tweaked a bit but some majorly.

PR v8 - Further adjusted color filters and brightness setting as well as overall recalc.
BF4 v3 - Nearly complete overhaul plus a new texture for BF4 exclusive.
A2 v4 - Complete overhaul of parameters. DOF and SSAO+ are compatible but switched off by default now.
WarThunder v2 - Added early access updated v2 version to RD bundle v8, this port also supports HBAO and SSAO+
SWAT4 v2 - A small update to Swat 4 which takes advantage of core v8 version filters.

As always, for a full list of changes and port-specific instructions check out ReadMe files included within the bundle.

I haven't really had time to make new screens as I don't play as much (working a lot) so only 4 screens in main thread for PR this time.

Have fun and happy new year in advance!

Can't say I don't agree with you. Older games are simpler and much easier to play (pleasant) however when it comes to immersion the more life-life a picture is the more you get immersed. When it comes to tactical shooters you may want extra immersion as this seems to be the future.

Check out games like ONWARD, Escape From Tarkov, GroundBranch etc, they're heavily focusing on the visual element of which some require VR headset.

Life-like reproduction of imagery can strain your eyes but next gen displays are coming and they will produce retina-friendly quality and light. Until then it doesn't hurt to have some mods for fun ;)

BUNDLE v9 is out!

This is a huge update so I will try to keep everything short.

New in core:

- Added a leveler to make shadows darker and bright spots contrasted.
- Added tonemapper setting to achieve semi HDR feel.
- Moved HDR level from 16bit to 32bit for a larger array of colors.
- New method of LUT palette design.
- Added HBAO and Bokeh DOF in some games.

Updates:

A2 - Nearly a complete update featuring new experimental settings and lut also multipresets and HBAO + Bokeh DOF effects.
PR - Small but noticeable changes includes v9 updates too.
CINEMATIC - It was COMPLETELY redone, now it looks like bf3/4 and Michael Bay's movies mixed together. Results vary from game to game.
Added new plugs - 32 and 64 bit dlls if you need them.

Other games were slightly altered too.

New additions:

Star Wars Republic Commando - Wrap from dx8 to dx9 + v8 RD ported and adjusted for it. It brings life back into this imho best Star Wars game :)
RealDust NODs - Emulates realistic night vission goggles with animated textures and filters, works in daylight maps too.
RealDust RDHDR - Emulates High Dynamic Range of colors to achieve photorealistic feel and natural tonemapping, does not use LUT.
RealDust FLIR - Emulates thermal vision in infra-red mode.

Also added is Russian language support for installation in the bundle pack, speaking of which. Want RD translated in your language? Volunteer! Drop a reply bellow and I will assign you text to translate, nothing fancy. You would be credited in the pack for it.

New updated screens have been added in main thread. I also "spoiled" all screens in previous comments so it doesn't lag the thread.

Anyways. RD is getting a bit bulky, if I do continue to support it at some point I plan on outsourcing it to a website or something so it's easier to handle for both me and you guys. Until then thank you for being the host ( :o ops :)

Enjoy the new update! 8)

P.S. On the rush so I'll drop it here: WOW PR got a new patch update :D :D :D you people are amazing with your dedication, this mod-now-a-game is unmatched. You should snag a Guiness record (Serious)
Many thanks for both the mod and continued support.

Maven, I haven't tested this mod but after skimming through this thread it appears that there is some negative feedback, especially regarding brightness. It seems like you may be capable of implementing something beneficial to this game. Do you have any ideas for visual tweaks in the core game that you feel might improve our visual experience?

MAVEN wrote:I've recently accidentally found an amazing little mod called PR GEM 0.52 made by author from the link bellow, I liked it so much however I wanted a lot of things changed thus begun editing the preset myself. What finally turned out was almost a complete overhaul of a mod that drastically enhances PR and A2 games.

Real Dust is name of my ReShade preset bundle based on PR GEM 0.52 by SAM.

BUNDLE version: v9
CORE version: v9

Real Dust core features.
Spoiler for Version History:
V1:

- Custom LUT palette and settings, carefully balanced.
- Custom edited REINHARD filter, the filter was heavily focused on and based on this filter, every other value was actually accustomized to it.
- 2 custom lens flares/dirt masks designed by me, to use the 2nd one just rename it. 2nd mask gives more blue tones and BF3 feeling.
- Custom bloom settings made to simulate ambient occlusion on ground objects.
- Custom sharpener filter measured for the game.
- Custom vignette in sand yellow color with measured parameters to help simulate masking for helmet/goggles but also help create "aura" over HUD for better reading and immersion.

V2:

- Completely redesigned LUT color palette.
- Redesigned dirtmask to include spectrum and light 3D effects.
- Toned down bloom and adjusted HDR.
- Added optional filter adjustments (off by default) for Gamma and Vibrance.
- Other minor parameter adjustments.

V3:

- Enabled Technicolor chemistry and tuned values to make overall colors more natural.
- Fixed color palette bug.
- Added use of Boris Vorontsov's 3D lens flare with custom designed texture and values. This helps make explosions and bright objects draw attention as well as add optical emulation of hi-tech hardware and goggles.
- Enhanced Sharpener, it's stronger now, did this to make it work better with new effects.
- Added shadow noise (off by default) with custom texture and values. Helps add detail to very dark objects.
- Added 3D ChromaKey/Aberration filter with custom values. Makes the whole picture look optical, sharper, more immersive and cinematic, blurs edges with blending colors, smears texture to achieve footage emulation. Very popular with games today.
- Enabled SMAA antialiasing (off by default) and balanced values. Helps smoothen edges on high resolution screens. Not mandatory thus off by default, may increase FPS if used instead of MSAA in-game antialiasing.
- Added heat distortion with custom designed texture and values. Experimental feature simulates heat, off by default.

V4:

- Added 2 new color formulas to improve color balance.
- Minor updates to settings.
- Toned down HDR bloom and lens masking.
- Adapted RealDust for higher resolutions (1920x1080 is RD native)

V5:

- Moved lens dirt mask to alternate source.
- Added fisheye effect to fix game FOV and emulate optics in vehicle HUDs and emulate slight helmetcam feel.
- Improved 3D Lens for bright objects.
- Added Anamorphic glare which reflects environment in real time to simulate offlection on glass and high tech optical surface such as protective goggles.
- Added gaussian glare leak to emulate light rays and reflections from bright objects.

V6:

- Added Luma Abs Curves to balance shadows.
- Added Gamma and Tone limitter to balance brightness and color intensity further.
- Toned down aural vignette.
- Improved lightmap lens texture to include omni rays.
- Adjusted REINHARD filter.
- Introduced BUNDLE.

v7:

- Adjusted various filter parameters for better balance.
- Added Chapman rays.

v8:

- Adjusted LUT.
- Abberation fix.
- Adjusted bloom.
- REINHARD recalibrated.
- Multiple color formulas changed.

v9:

- Added a leveler to make shadows darker and bright spots contrasted.
- Added tonemapper setting to achieve semi HDR feel.
- Moved HDR level from 16bit to 32bit for a larger array of colors.
- New method of LUT palette design.
- Added HBAO and Bokeh DOF in some games.
