C12 Grunt Signups Open - Official PR Tournament

Recruits, Sign-Ups are Open!

After reviewing many applications for officer positions, the Supreme Commanders are now ready to receive applications for grunt positions in both teams! In the past week, the teams have been working on setting up a team structure, contacting their officers, and assigning roles and responsibilities to ensure that the team staff and the squad leaders are dedicated and active to provide everyone with a great campaign.

Image

Support your team by organizing and participating in team and squad trainings or help planning the strategy for the next battle. If you prove your leadership and fighting skills on the battlefield, work on your team's propaganda or recruit and train members for your team you can move up the ranks easily, as the past campaigns have shown.

Case in point, many of the staff of both teams joined PRT Campaign 10 and 11 as normal soldiers and were quickly promoted to SL and even higher for their work for the team. Do not hesitate to join up - even if it's only a reserve slot - everyone gets their fair chance to play and be promoted to normal soldier!
  • Training and playing sessions are organized by teams and squads.
  • Two new teams: "Allied Pacific Nations" (APN) and "Euro-Arabian Military Coalition" (EMC).
  • Dynamic and interactive campaign world map that pairs up a multitude of PR maps and layouts in several "Operations" requires strategy and planning between battles to win the campaign.
  • Interactive battleplanning tool with map and asset information.
  • Extensive forums for preparation, communication and organization for both teams.
  • Tournament battle server and training servers for each team
  • ... and much more!
Image
The teams will be filled with members first. Only after that, the Supreme Commanders will decide which team plays APN and which one plays EMC. When this is done, every player will have their team tag "[PR]APN|" or "[PR]EMC|" added in front of their forum nickname as a prefix (- this will not change your login username!)

This will mark the official start of the campaign and everyone will get access to the Team forums and teamspeak channels.

The administration is looking forward to welcoming you all to the Official Project Reality Tournament! We are here to answer all the questions you might have and are working hard to make sure you get what matters - the best Project Reality gameplay possible.

How to Sign Up
We are using an updated, automated system for the tournament sign-ups. All you have to do is fill out a form and hit submit! Fill out all fields as best you can, so that the commanders and admin team are able to get a good insight into you and your capabilities. You can check back regularly to see the status of your application.

Soldier Sign-Ups will close as soon as the Teams are filled! There are 100 slots in each team to be filled (70 members, 30 active reserves per team). Please note that after a team hits the 75 member limit, further applicants to that team will automatically be allocated to the reserves. The PRT Rules and Regulations explain what it means to be a reserve. The total number of slots available is 200 for both teams combined.

Read the following carefully!
  1. You need a working microphone and basic understanding of English to be able to participate in the tournament.
  2. Once submitted, you cannot edit your application! Be sure your application is correct and complete!
  3. You sign up for a Team (A, B, or "no preference") and NOT for one of the coalitions (APN, EMC). These will be assigned to the teams only after both teams are filled! More information about the teams can be found here: Teamlead Announcement.
  4. You can sign up with friends! Name 2 people you want to play with. Those two people also have to nominate you and each other.
    Player A nominates Player B, Player C
    Player B nominates Player A, Player C
    Player C nominates Player A, Player B
Keep in mind that changing this later is not possible!
Make sure everyone gives the correct information so that you can play together.
  5. If you choose a team, you have the possibility to select a role you would like to take. Both teams set up some categories that you can choose from, regarding the role you would like to take in the tournament. You can specify what you like doing in PR in a free text field as well.
  6. Make sure you read the Tournament FAQ as well as the Tournament Rules prior to signing up! It is especially important that you understand the activity requirements and have the time to participate in the tournament!
  7. If you have any questions that you would like to ask before applying, you can post a Support Ticket. Not sure if you should sign up? Check out the links at the bottom and join us in IRC or the PRT Forums to have a chat!
  8. If you have no account in the PR Tournament forums yet, Register here to be able to sign up as a soldier.
  9. Officers/NCOs that were not selected (yet) and contacted will automatically get their signup moved to soldiers.

If you have signed up already, check the status of your application with the same link.

Signups are currently closed as we've filled all of the available slots. Both teams are now full but there are always players who're removed after a week or so. Keep an eye on the website's header and on the How do I Signup? thread as they will show you the current status of the signups.

WTF? I wasn't around the interwebz yesterday. I want to play. No, I need to!

Keep an eye on the forums, signups will open again at some point. Can even use the RSS feed if you're into that sort of thing. :)

Signups are currently closed.

We got 140 signups in about 30 hours.

Reserve signups should re-open in a week or two due to dropouts.

I was watching this for weeks, and then the signups open just as I'm on holiday and don't check it for 2 days.

It seems that for the first time, we're not getting as many drops as usual, so signups may take a while to re-open.

This is probably due to our new system which makes sure everyone is well informed of the basic activity requirements leading to less people making the mistake of not checking the forums. Still, we're removing inactive players on a daily basis, just less quantity than in previous campaigns.

So don't despair, signups will eventually re-open. Give it a few more weeks and check the forum regularly ;)

I really dislike the fact that I have to check the tournament home page every day whilst waiting for someone to be cut from their teams or not present. Can you maybe inform the general public at least a day or two before opening grunt signups again? It would be really nice.

We won't be posting an announcement just for that but we will be bumping the "How do I signup?" thread on the PRT Forum, so you just have to have it subscribed.

Checking the PRT forum daily is something you should really do if you do get in anyway... ;)

Onil, as much as I would like to check it daily, I just can't put up myself to do that. Why? Because there's NOTHING TO SEE (except offtopic and known topics that I've already read through). I'm serious. Look:

Image

That said. I'm really proud of you guys and everything you're doing. It's what makes the community great. My only criticism is this - the fact that really dedicated, potentially really experienced people who for some reason couldn't sign up in that day when the signups opened has to open up a website every day JUST to check info if signups are open or not.

Why didn't you just keep the signups open knowing that there will be a certain amount of dropouts? Or just make a different system (The main point of it - so people don't have to wait unnecessary). What I mean is that the process of people leaving a squad and joining it would be much more faster and simpler this way.
I mean, if I was an SL I wouldn't like to wait form my squad to fill up only when the signups open again. And also for the potential recruits that didn't sign up when the signups were open - they would integrate faster within the squad and the team if they could hang around them whilst the signups are closed and they're waiting and waiting.
OK, maybe it is a bit more complicated, but it would nullify these known problems - the fact that people have to wait, the fact that people have to check, check, check and doublecheck for nothing.

EDIT: Ok, I only now read through forum post about the prep battle. Seems like you will open up signups shortly. So NOW there's actually no need for that informing I'm talking about. But in the future - IMHO it's a great idea.

Everything you said about squads not having to wait for signups to re-open to have enough players is correct, that is why we have reserves! And that is why we always have 10 to 20 more signups than what the teams actually need, already counting with the drops from the first signups. The SCO's even often complain of having too many players in their teams because of those extra slots.

Basically, this is not our first rodeo, we know what we're doing. People will always complain for either having too many or too little slots but the fact is that we have just the right amount of slots available in the first signups to account for the drops and for a good balance between members and reserves. That's currently 70 Members and 30 Reserves on first signups which should then drop to 65 Members and 25 Reserves, which are the numbers used until the end of the campaign. Once there are 10 slots available in one or both teams, we re-open signups.

There is no set date for us to open signups since we can't really predict when the numbers drop. Specially in this campaign which is taking more time to stabilize the rosters in terms of keeping the active and removing the inactive. But we're checking every day and we're managing the player-base constantly with strict activity requirements. There is a system in place, it works as intended and will continue to be used.

There is a reason why signups were full within 30 hours after they opened. The PRT offers something that you can't get elsewhere so anyone that wants it will try to get in. And since it is first come first served, there is no special treatment for anyone. It is a matter of luck, being online at the right time... but here's a little hint for you, everything in the PRT is usually done at 19h00 PRT ;)

Mouthpiece, another thing you have to remember is we've already had people complaining that they don't get to participate enough in battles and we've only had one. Thats with current numbers and trust me, there are to many reserves already. Adding more people to the equation is just going to cause more hate from within the team and thats never good, its tough.

Reserve Signups will be re-opening this Monday (14th) at 19h00 PR Time with 10 to 15 slots. First come first served as usual.

Do keep in mind that there are limited slots (around 5 per team) meaning that if too many signup with a preference for Team X and don't want to be placed on Team Y, some will have to be placed on queue until numbers drop further in that team. That means that they loose priority to be placed in a team in these signups and more slots open up for people to signup for Team Y.
