Harrier, Hover pitch inverted

Post by JohnF0X »

i and a lot of other players so far when on falklands had the problem of handling the harrier with the new physix
one of which is that the harrier will go nose down when transfering to hover mode
i did some testing and found the isue, at speeds betwen 150-400 roughtly the pitch axis acts as if it was converted, causing a dive if one trys to pull back on the stick when you actualy have to push the stick forword to get the nose, this is counterintuitive and im not sure if this was intentional, i cant recal it beeing like this previously

something similar also hapens when one transitions from hover into normal flight, if one pulls back on the stick to get the nose high and then corects the angle by pitching forwords the plane will either go into a 90? climb or belly up, depending on how much corections the pilot trys to make

strangely the only way to counteract those things seemed to be to not touch the controls at all, at roughtly 600-500 one should pitch roughtly 2?up when transitioning into hover mdoe and when transitioning into normal flight 100+ meters above the ground at a 3-5? angle with out any inputs as the plane gains speed will cause in no issues
3 Years of not beeing able to write on Realitymod Forums since Account creation and suddenly im able to. Why not earlier?

Honestly, i was under the impression that the inverted control was some kind of feature lol. Other jets have it too, you can notice it under certain conditions. Once you get used to it though, it is actually pretty nice because you can use the inverted control for some interesting and useful tricks.

Maybe people can learn it just like they learned about waiting for choppers to warm up before using the throttle.

Even more honestly i still dont know if i should call it a feature or fix as bug lol :P
Inverted controls an unexpected result of wings working opposite direction on relatively low speeds while hover engines still ineffective.

It really has good applications for some tricks and adds a bit more challenge to going into hover mode, afaik hovering in the real harrier is quite difficult, although i don't think the controls get inverted on the real harrier.

I think people can get used to it. What i suspect is by removing it you would also remove some of the capabilities and detail of the new flight model, is that true?

Basically i need to start it from scratch for harrier.
Current setup with tonns of engines and wings is quite complicated and network wasteful, and i dont like it at all.
Therefor it'll take some time till i'll come up with better physics for it.
