New Server Specifications.

Post by Rufato »

Greetings.

Sorry if Im posting this in wrong forum area, but I need help with some server deployment details.

Im considering applying to host a PR Server for portuguese brazilliam speakers mainly. I already have rented server for TeamSpeak on Hetzner (Germany) with very good ping response to Brazil, and Im thinking running a server on it.

That said, I wish to know minimum and recommended specifications to run a reasonable server. Im currently running Debian Jessie 64 bit and Im pretty used to run linux servers.
Bandwidth is definively not a problem.

Thank you very much for your time.

Well, if you wish to cater to Brazillians I would really recommend a server in Brazil or at least South America. You have competition, so adding 150+ ping won't help. :)

To take 100 players online without any lags you should take 3.0 GHz+ on core only dedicated server. VPS/VDS unsuitable generally.
RAM is not particularly important. PR server eats about 1gb ram.

Thank you for your considerations. You are absolutely correct. I usually get 300- ping when I SSH to my server, thats usually less tham what I get from nearest server.
If my friends join the game, we will certaintly rent a dedicated server in a local datacenter.
