Reduce CAS helicopters gun deviation or increase splash radius/damage
Good Evening,
As the title says, is it possible to do one of these? Because CAS helicopters cannons are really useless, most of the time you just shoot LG even at one guy because atleast you know it's going to kill him, the gun deviation is absolutely ridiculous your shots land randomly in a 50m radius circle. I'm not even mentioning the Cobra's 20mm gun as it almost feel like a very cheap BB gun. If you don't want the cannon to be too much accurate then incrase the splash radius or damage so it can be somewhat effective but please do something the cannon.

Deviation is more or less realistic, these guns aren't even meant to be accurate IRL. Though whether the helicopter is moving fast or not has a pretty big difference of accuracy. They do lack punch though in-game.SkyEmperor wrote:Good Evening,

As mentioned somewhere else, helicopter cannons will get same increase in splash/damage as the APC/IFV auto cannons. We also changed them to have AP impact material and HE explosion damage which should make them better vs hard targets while keeping them at same level vs soft targets.

Re: Reduce CAS helicopters gun deviation or increase splash radius/damage
The new attack heli gun drop is extremely bad. I also don't understand why it only seems to be on the apache AFAIK.
This huge drop doesn't work in PR for gameplay reasons and renders the cannon nearly useless. IRL gunners don't need to adjust for drop as they have laser range adjust for it, meaning simply that cannon could be left without drop at all and it would be 100% fine.

I agree with virus, FCS on modern helicopters, tanks and ifv's allow gunners to simply "point and shoot" once a distance is gained on a target. Since this is impossible to implement I believe that drop should not effect helicopter guns, just like tanks and ifv's.

Along with that, why does drop effect just and helicopter guns ingame, but not any other vehicle ingame? It doesn't add anything on the helicopters for gameplay, and if it does, then wouldn't we want to add that to all vehicles?

Scorpian tank and BMP 1 also have drop.

BMP-1 (more or less) uses the same projectile as SPG-9 uses, so it has the drop.anantdeathhawk wrote:Scorpian tank and BMP 1 also have drop.

Not relevant.anantdeathhawk wrote:Scorpian tank and BMP 1 also have drop.
Scorpion doesn't have drop.
BMP-1 and SPG-9 technical do because they use the same gun. It's a low-pressure cannon without automatic range adjusting, instead relying on a range table for adjustments and a stadiametric optical rangefinder to get the distance.

Outside of the usual inaccuracy due to moving and deviation, I did not notice any drop. Completely forgot that it got added

I stand corrected.Scorpion doesn't have drop.
They are not exactly the same, as one is a recoilless gun and the other is a breachlock gun hence has recoil(other than that they are the same as you pointed out).
BMP-1 and SPG-9 technical do because they use the same gun.

I agree that vehicles that in real life have automated drop adjustment (Modern tanks, APCs) shouldn't have drop in PR.
Attack helis most definitely do have drop adjustments for their cannon.

And therefore there shouldn't be noticeable drop in chopper autocannons. Too gimmicky.[R-CON]AlonTavor wrote:I agree that vehicles that in real life have automated drop adjustment (Modern tanks, APCs) shouldn't have drop in PR.

It is less than 0.5m drop on 800m. Deviation is around 2m spread at that range.Mouthpiece wrote:And therefore there shouldn't be noticeable drop in chopper autocannons. Too gimmicky.
I set up a stryker with same values Apache gun uses. Removed deviation and recoil.

Re: Reduce CAS helicopters gun deviation or increase splash radius/damage
It would be awesome if the bmp2 projectiles could get lined up with the sight in the same style as the spg-9. Its so rewarding watching the projectile arc through the air and hit right where you adjusted for in the range settings.Jacksonez__ wrote:BMP-1 (more or less) uses the same projectile as SPG-9 uses, so it has the drop.

But that's useless. Is it this hard to just leave the cannons without any kind of drop and not add more ways to make the game buggier?'[R-DEV wrote:Mats391;2155223']It is less than 0.5m drop on 800m. Deviation is around 2m spread at that range.

Helis do have automatic adjustment with laser range, there is no need for any kind of drop. I don't know why you insist on having this useless drop, it doesn't give anyone anything, just detracts from gameplay.
And I guess you were serious on the previous post, but I'm not sure what you are talking about.
The parts you linked didn't look like havok fire anyway, but either Mi-24 or Mi-35M. Some parts of the video include havok fire but not the timestamps you provided.
And if were trying to say PR doesn't have drop:
Spoiler for strong language in video title dont open if PC:

You do realize he's flying forward in a game that doesn't have stablised gun systems, right? Of course the shots will look angled if you position yourself differently.
