The bigger question is gameplay.
Mesta, Ghost, and hell Asad play a lot worse than a lot of the maps in the pack.

The unbelievable backlash towards OGT's removal prompted it's return in a map pack and got permanent residence in 981. It played bad, and will always play the good kind of bad. Bi Ming and TadSae got remade, meatgrinder left intact. Yet maps like Sunset and 7gates, the poster children of old PR (besdies Kashan, which also happened to be the target of one determined dev) are left out.

You already have "shit" maps lying around in the main game, adding some more seeder maps couldn't hurt.

Touche. I was thinking more of server admins running Street with 100 people.

I mean even shitty admins should know not to run a 4k desert map with 20 people, or not to run a .5km map with 100.

To put my honest opinion here, I think we should have these maps put into PR as it could diversify map selections from what they already are (which is pretty bland from what I've seen the last few weeks) and the maps do look interesting. Having more kinds of matchups between factions would be nice as the mappack shows several different matchups that haven't been seen (atleast from what I've seen) like Russia vs Mec and other factions just need more maps. The Netherlands are in the game and they're on a single map if I remember correctly. While adding the maps might not diversify map selections as I am hoping, it'd be nice to have the option to play on maps that aren't common in map selections while also not being trashy to play on.

Just my honest opinion.

I get the feeling this is not up for debate but...and maybe this should be moved to the suggestions forum. The updater idea to download maps/extras is a good idea.

People reading this thread and forum are the mainstay of the community and will probably download the maps. However, there are many newcomers to the game who do not regularly haunt these pages and they will in all probability not download the maps.

When adding these maps or just a few choice ones to a server list you will have new players disconnect as the new map comes up and they will almost certainly connect to another server which they can play on. The new map server will drop in population also discouraging other people to connect (may be even those who have the map)

Now I'm guessing the maps are being released because devs, creators and players want them played on? It does not seem like the best approach to achieving that goal.

The updater is a good idea or even a message when a user is disconnected saying be patient while the map they want to play downloads in the background.

Quake 1 did it back in the day (96 I think :) ) during the game you were playing, mods too (eg Thuunderwalker). Really convenient.

We do have 50 excellent maps but of course, more is...more. The main thing I think is that we all want all the releases and extra things that people work on so hard to be a success and be exposed to as many people as possible and auto downloads might help achieve that.

Spread the PR love, and Happy new year!

EDIT...

I think I was wrong, people have downloaded the map pack and there are full mappack servers...PRTA at least. Awesome.

Sunset city, bring it back pls. The maps that were still around in the 0.75 days would still play good on PR now, minus a few. Like others have said, the maps that don't play well, just won't be played like maps already currently in, and those ridiculously small maps are a nice alternative to skirmish for seeding.

Yes, please bring some of them back to the core game. The servers that play them now do play them rarely anyway, although that might be because they want to keep all the players that don't have them yet.

I thing nobody will start running those maps regulary other than the big ones maybe, it will self regulate because people mostly want to have the methodical gameplay of normal PR maps.

We won't be adding all these maps to the core levels. I can't speak for a few individual ones from the pack that are popular and get more work done to them. But thats up to the mappers.

Please bring back that chinese assetmap with china vs gb with the green hills and that big lake, it is almost up to the normal map standart.

Maybe do a rework and it will be completely the same standart as all the normal PR maps.

It never even started if you didn't download the mappack! PRTA had the maps for a few days, they seem to have been removed for the moment, not sure if its permanent.

I just feel like adding these maps that were removed (for reason that become very apparent after a few rounds) for the sake of a vocal minority would be bloating an already overloaded download. A lot of current PR players, and any prospects, found PR because it is a fantastic game (technically mod, but u know what I mean) that can run on older computers. There are few options for those with outdated hardware, PR is a masterpiece for these types of players.
