Opinion of all of you...

Post by bahiakof »

Hello friends,

"Improve commander's work"

I would like to read everyone's opinion on this modification that I made to facilitate the commander's work:

If any DEV wants to help me:

Great work. This will help organizing things, especially with squad leaders that are hard to communicate with for any reasons (language, radio clutter, etc)

I would love to see more tools for commanders. Not sure I like having build minefield, build mortars, demolish and similar ones. I feel like they're too specific.

too much micro manage imo.
80% of the current CO already spam with useless "orders"

I would like to see the CO being more active like having a UAV vehicle (some kind of radius to the vehicle), new statics can only be build by CO, ....

But hey we just got that awesome "enemy bridge" marker, what else does the commander need? Though, I am still looking forwards for "SATELLITE FEED MISSING HUE HUE" removal, it's super annoying when you zoom too close.

I like the 'enemy supplies'. Rest is kinda meh, they seem kinda... optional? Maybe the milsim players will like them.

Some more practical things would be interesting, like Niko said.

Thank you for your opinions, it is very important.

The idea behind these markers is to allow the commander to create missions for squad leaders. There are sql that play as commander and they manage to command the team, but they lack the tools to create the objectives.

These tools would be important to create a "briefing" in organized matches, or events.

PS. I need help to finalize the project :-(

Good Evening,

You have perfectly defined micro-manage.

Went to a teen family camp about 6 or 7 years ago. Part of the camp was a ropes course and other team building activities. One of the activities, the facilitators gave us 3 simple rules to play the game. There were about 12-15 people / 4-5 families involved. 30 minutes later we had made those 3 simple rules a 500 page policy manual dictating every possible thing that could go wrong.

IMO, your trying to revive a former server that was all about "law and order / chain of command" and while some folks thrive and excel in that format, most gameplayers do NOT. The majority of the players now are the type that don't even really listen to their SL or are SL and expect everyone else on the team to listen to them.

What a like about this is that it creates unnecessary chatter, if the commander marks a "Build a FOB" to squad 5 on the map, then it removes the necessity of radio communication, meaning the SL can focus more on its squad or other squads.

The thing is like many of you said, now-a-days many don't follow the commander's orders and other squad leaders think they are great.

That's right! With these tools in place of "orders" (Page UP/Page Down - which all SLs hate), the commander can improve some aspects in the game.

One can not focus only on individualistic or "Vanilleiros" players. There are serious players who like to follow a briefing. And it is for them this new menu of the commander.

Another factor that needs to be added to the commander is to allow anyone who assumes this position to choose between being a "Bureaucratic" commander (who is only at the base guiding, and using the UAV), or a "Commander Combatant", who leads the team On the front line. And for this it is necessary to return the frags counter, allow him to choose a second kit (Rifleman), give the same radio options from SL to him among others.

A good SL on the front line as commander, makes the difference.

I haven't had a decent commander in months who could mark movements fast enough for myself to entrust that he has a grasp of the full picture, let alone allow him/her to unquestioningly direct asset and infantry correctly.

I will try to modify the commander, leaving him as an SL (if possible) to show him the idea that I believe works best (combatant commander). It has already been proven that the idea of a passive commander in "BF2: PROJECT REALITY" does not work in practice.

In fact, no one trusts someone who is not in the "FRONT" and wants to give orders.

Commander in "FRONT":

I feel like effective commanding without falling into the milsims hole, is a commander who passes intel to the team effectively. without demanding people do x,y,z.

[OFFTOPIC] Honestly, it would be best if the UAV were a free reconnaissance feature (any SL could use it) or even remove the UAV from the PR, and the commander gaining better combat and communication skills to command the team as a field officer. General of the Army without the powers of a general officer, does not work in practice in the PR.

Now leaving "OFFTOPIC", this new menu is aimed at more serious players and organized events.

I think its a good idea for squads to be filled in on what other squads are focusing on.
