Burning Sands

Post by operativac »

Having played Burning Sands a decent number of times since the last patch dropped, I couldn't help but to notice the huge armour imbalance that occurred.

The simple fact that the British get two tanks over the MEC single tank causes all of the imbalance in my opinion.

So, my humble suggestion to bring the map to a balanced state is to replace the MEC BMP-3 with another T-72S1.

Side note: This is just my personal observation. Feel free to tell me that I'm wrong or that I should 'git gud', but back your claims up with facts please. ;)

To be honest, in my opinion it open comes down to people playing their cards correctly. If the Challengers stay in a pack and stay vigilant there is very little MEC can do offensively. But once the Challengers are out of the picture BMP2 and BMP3 will have a field day with the opposing Brit assets, and they can easily drive the infantry out of the town too, or at least halt any offensive coming out of town depending on how the city battle goes.

I feel as though the British have an edge early on, even more so if MEC doesn't realize they have to move T72 and BMPs as one unit, but should MEC gain the edge and have assets to spare it's no bueno for the Brits assets until the Stormer spawns in(which is quite effective against ground targets) - or CAS. In other words, yes, the early game setup favours the British, but simultaneously they have more to lose as British APC can't go toe-to-toe with the BMPs, much less the T72, anti-armour AND anti-infantry wise. Hell, the BMPs are even good at killing the supply helicopters.

I wish more people would switch their brains on when playing.....

Well said, I completely agree.

Tho it is somewhat hard to get people to switch their brains on in a non-competitive environment of a PR pub round.

Burning ALT became very unbalanced after the last "patch"

1 T72 + 2 BMP1 vs 3 British APCs

There is no real counter on GB side to face the T72 if the tank crew isnt completely retarded.

If you guys want to make an asymmetrical asset layout change it to:

1 BMP1, 1 BMP2, 1 BTR80 VS 4 British APCs

OR

1 T72m, 1 BMP1, 1 BTR80 VS 2 Stormer, 2 APCs

Yes burning sands alt was perfect before #lastPatchOnBurningAlt

I think the biggest issue with it is insta spawn T72. If we delay it and it has to enter city or fight TOWs, it will die rather quickly.

If there is one thing I'd change on the standard layout, give the british 1 challenger at the start, and have one delayed 20 minutes.

Having played burning sands quite often the past 2 weeks, I will admit it's getting 'bad' for the MEC team to really combat against the Challengers. Even with a Tow set up, or a hat kit.

Another thing, remove the Panther, or just put a Land Rover with HMG replacing it. If not, give the MEC team a MTLB (with the 12.7 machine gun).

It's OK, but having played as the MEC team literally the past few times, they are easily dominated within 20 minutes of the game. Obviously it depends on the team itself.
