Why do commander kills not count?
I noticed earlier today that when you are the commander, and you kill an enemy soldier it doesn't count as kill? Why?

Re: Why do commander kills not count?
because the commander has a primary role of providing communication and logistical support, he isn't a 'fighting general' the lack of kill scores reflect this
this isn't to say that he cant kill, its just that his role is far more potent than that of a direct combat role.

They are recorded only toward award or medal progress (which isn't implemented in PR) and not listed either in score or under how many people you have killed. This is how it has been since Vanilla Battlefield 2, probably for the reason Rudd posted.

It used to be in vanilla before it got patched out. Hence why you would get so many people applying for CO at the start of the round just to get 15+ Kills on the board in the first Strike (Excuse the pun) at Karkand. People would not actually command or use any of the functions, just rack up a huge amount of kills through artillery, thus it was removed.
Same reasons apply In PR to an extent I would assume.

^You lose tickets not because you get killed, but because you die, know what I'm saying?
It doesn't matter who kills/wounds you: an enemy commander, a friendly, a car, a cow, a bomb, yourself, whatever. Your team still loses 1 ticket if you go wounded and one more if you die (2 if you insta-die).

I found it weird when I first heard it (I thought you skipped the wounded state as well), but apparently it is like this, 2 tickets on insta-death... Was never proved or proved otherwise. You know.bloodthirsty_viking wrote:I thought you only lost one if you insta die... Because you skip the wounded state...

I thought I heard from someone that if you were to die in a vehicle it counts as only 1 ticket...

So you just lose 1 ticket on insta-death.[R-MOD]Jigsaw
So whether you gave up to get to the "dead" screen, or you were insta-killed it is -1, you don't lost two because you haven't seen the wounded screen.

In theory, what you have said is true. But in practice, within the "Project Reality" universe, the commander is no more than a drone operator. By removing the counter from Frags, squad leaders experienced in field leadership have lost interest in playing as a commander (not fun).Rudd wrote:because the commander has a primary role of providing communication and logistical support, he isn't a 'fighting general' the lack of kill scores reflect this

Generals in Project Reality, is utopia and does not work in practice. It would be better to convert the PR commander into a "Lieutenant-Colonel" (combatant commander). Experienced players like to fight, they do not like to stay at mainbase trying to lead the team from a distance.

a good commander spends his time UAVing and ordering squads(assuming squads are compliant and not stubborn men with their bayonets up their asses usually CAS and 'recon'[/SIZE) when his UAV fuel is spent, he will take trans helo and move to the location where most squads(minimum 2) are centralized, but as far away as possible from any working FOB, this is to maximize the potential of the commander rally point.bahiakof wrote:In theory, what you have said is true. if there is no easy access to move forwards, he/she can simply take a logistics truck and help supplies, if none of that either, he/she would probably just wait while UAV refuels cause their team fucked up so badly to lose every single asset.
