Operation Marlin AAS

Post by FFG »

So we just played Operation marlin with the new flag layers.
Operation Marlin
AAS: removed checkpoint flag from all routes.
We specifically played Bellview, TV, UN, Dam, Saint Tropez.

TV is the central flag on the map. Its generally the rush point for both teams. If France captures it, they own two flags on the map. When MEC capture it, They have 4 flags on the map and push france to their bleed flag.

And sure enough, MEC rushed TV with 1 squad on a UAZ, 1 by chopper and a BTR and wiped the french and got rolled, pushed back to bell view and capped out shortly after.

i really think they need to change it, and add back the Checkpoint flag.

Sure, the French can easily go to UN and rush it, secure it... but if the MEC goes balls out to TV station, and takes French out there... they win easily.

Or have Bellvue Hotel already capped for the French.

Easier to get to the TV flag from MEC team, than French.

TV building is IMO biggest problem of this map. I cant remember time when i play this map whit no TV flag. its really hard to attack this building from above, and helicopter attack is not good idea,if good squad is defending it. That building should be reworked. Fireeskepe on side whould not be bad idea.

Are you saying it's a hard building to attack? I always considered it to be one of the easiest hole up buildings to clear out. Nading those staircases without any cover is easy as pie. There's really no way for the defenders to counter that except nading down or running up.

But yes, the TV building is a bit unfitting for the spot it is in, I can't figure out what it is exactly though.

Its not a bad building, you can rope the north and south sides as well as heli drops.

Its on almost every layer and if the french lose it, its basically GG

It only takes 2/3 ppl to hold the stair case in TV station, if you get more people stacking up you risk a nade wiping the squad. This allows the TV station defenders to lock down a fairly large area, they can afford to have an AR/MG/Marksmen/Grenadier on the top look out because even if they go down they are 100% safe to get revived. The only real counter is APC/IFV cannon fire splashing infantry prone on the roof.

I can appreciate that Marlin is the TV stations time to shine, there aren't too many other maps that put such an emphasis on the static. Most of the time it's T building to T building, rinse and repeat, this time the mapper took a different route and I think it worked out nicely.

I really like Marlin, its main favorite city map in game. What I hate is every time getting TV station when I play this map. Like FFG sad this flag is really important for French and easy to rush by MEC early in game.
Part of this problem is MEC jeep. It can get full squad to TV before VAB even gets close. IMO MEC jeep should be 5 min delayed. Other idea for this problem is adding french jeep in game so both teams can rush around.

Second part og this problem is TV building itself. I saw many rounds on this flag when French spend 30+ min trying to take TV(sametimes they dont succeed). If good squad defendes this flag 1 squad dont have chance to take TV. You sometimes need 3 squades to attack in same time to take this flag!!! To many imo.

My experience in the OP was with 2 clanmates and 3 pubies rushing TV (a little delayed). By the time we got there, still ahead of the pack, by the time we got there, Mec was inside and BTR's had just arrived
