HEIT and HE-FRAG

Post by Captain Fubar »

Hey all, I was playing Chinese armor and found that we got APDFST, HEIT, HE-FRAG and an ATGM. I know what AP and ATGM's do of course but I don't know about HEIT and FRAG rounds. Is HEIT supposed to be used for light vehicles while FRAG is exclusively for infantry? I'd really like to know.
Yep and that's an enemy jet coming up above us dropping bombs, we're dead, we are de-

Yeah HEIT is used similar to HEI, MPAT, HEAT - you use it for lighter vehicles and/or buildings, when fighting insurgents its the round to be on because it can remove infantry and vehicles(you wont be encountering armor). This is for versatility but also to prevent overpenetration(like those OP VN-3's that take 3 T-90 AP rounds), not an intended mechanic and a buggy mechanic but really cool nonetheless. Anyways, generally you want to stay on AP as tank incase you encounter APC or tanks(can use coaxil for infantry), but when your enemy doesn't have armor/their armor is down, HEIT is safe way to go VS infantry and LIGHT vehicles.

HE-FRAG is like one of those AA missiles, they blow up and have fragmentation go fucken everywhere.
So yeah, infantry and buildings. A giant frag grenade outta a barrel. I think this is the 'ATGM of AP shells', it's rare and not as common as HE-types so this is the go-to specialized round for anti-infantry. It's usability on medium vehicles is questionable though.

So basically HEIT is the normal more general anti infantry and vehicle while FRAG is more specialized for infantry

Just look up the names of the rounds and you will get an idea what they are for.
What i remember:

APFSDS-T: Armour piercing fin stabalized discarding sabot - tracer

APDS-T: Armour piercing discarding sabot - tracer

MPAT: Multi purpose anti tank

HEI-T: High explosive incendiary - tracer

HE-FRAG: High explosive - fragmentation

Pretty straightforward.
