Why do people like Muttrah?
Since day one, that i started playing PR... I've never liked Muttrah and could never understand why people liked it?
Only reason i can see is due the the fact its urban combat... but there are other urban combat maps that rarely ever get touched these days and they're good maps.. Plus, its overplayed.

It's a good map, i suppose

assetruler69: I've seen things you smurfs wouldn't believe. Apaches on the Kashan. I watched burned down tank hulls after the launch of the single TOW. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to give up and respawn.

It's showing its age a little bit now, streets being pretty bare with no detail except for the occasional car. Maps like dragon fly or gaza seem much more believable, and grozny pretty much blows them all out of the water.Rico wrote:Its quite unique really. What other good completely urban maps are there?

Re: Why do people like Muttrah?
Muttrah has a little bit of everything, from CAS to close-quarters combat.
* The map is serial/sequential, this means that the combat area is easy to read and manage: Teams start at one point and finish at the opposite end.
* Logistics is another factor, being that MEC has almost direct access to the entire combat area and the most important sectors of the map are within walking distance. USMC is able to reach any point on the map by air transport, giving them quick access, but at some degree of risk.
* Vehicle warfare is easy to wage as the streets provide plenty of well-mapped tactical options.
* The roads are narrow enough that infantry are not left in the open for too long and can safely move from cover to cover. In addition, almost every building is enterable to some degree.
Grozny on the other hand is strictly land-based. Both teams are relatively balanced as far as equipment and assets. An annoyance, which conversely is also it's keystone, is that the conventional RUS faction is denied magnified optics and thermals.
Beirut had everything to be the next Muttrah, but it's downfall is its lack of depth. Everything is bone dry, sparse and it lacks the character which Muttrah has. Players have little place to use as cover when moving. If Beirut had a closer level of lush statics to which Grozny has, then the richer environment might make it become another favorite.
Gaza beach was saved in its rework; playing to its strong points of pure CQC and insurgency. A side note is that the waterfront has become almost invisible.
Returning to the main topic, Muttrah is PR's most edifying urban map, great for both learning and enjoying urban warfare.

Comparing Muttrah to Justin Bieber is the most offensive comment I've ever seen to MuttrahHeavy Death wrote:Idk, why do people like Justin Bieber?

A little update in that regard would be well received for sure.

Ye, technically the map was never finished, but then "Art is never finished, only abandoned." (Leonardo da Vinci)
But ye I had hoped one day I might fix up the map and give it a lot more detail as well as quite a few big gameplay changes etc but I've got a lot on my plate and dunno if that will happen.

It's a good map apart from no real flanking options and not made for 100p

Re: Why do people like Muttrah?
Gaza is also shit for 100p and muttrah is basically 1km.
But some players prefer to go straight without an option to flank left or right...

You can put 100 players on Kokan Skirmish, doesn't mean it'll go well.

It's an easy map to learn but harder (tho not so hard) to master. Too bad that we've all gotten so used to it that there aren't many options to do as you/other enemy player recounts the memories of the same situation and the options, and consequences... bascially what I want to say is that there aren't THAT many good tactical options as the safest and best ones are played out almost always. Not saying that it's bad, but hell it gets so bland defending the double T in west city through the ages.
I wish flags were totally changed in the ALT to include areas that haven't gotten that much of an activity. Though come to think of it I think that Muttrah is that old that it has been thought out multiple times and the current flag layout is just the best, considering pluses and minuses.

Re: Why do people like Muttrah?
Muttrah is/was simply the greatest map ever created and played in PR...we ran it for 24/7 for 2 years straight...whomever created it should be awarded the PR map gold medal. I thank u sir....
