How to add Custom Sounds to PR
Hello!
I'm new to this Form and I have no Idea where to post that Thread. I hope you are not going to delete this Thread just because I posted it at the wrong place.
Anyways, I need your help. I have the standalone version of PR and I've been playing it sience 3 years now.
BUT (for Singleplayer only,) I want to change some Weapon sounds. The G36 for exapmle.
So I found the Folder with all of the WAV files.
Volume D:>Programs>Project Reality BF2>Mods>PR>Content>objects_weapons_client.zip\weapons\handheld\gerrif_g36\sounds
There are Indoor, Outdoor (..) sounds of course. At first I only want to change the Outdoor sound.
So I created my own WAV File (my own G36 Sound) and renamed it g36_1p.wav. That way, I could simply Overwrite that sound.
I made Backups of course.
I Booted up PR, loaded a German Map (Lashkar Valley) and My G36 makes no sound. I have no Idea What I have to do in order to hear my custom sound ingame.
I also changed a TWEAK files, to make that sound louder, but that did not work too. I changed that TWEAK file to original after that.
Also, I know about this 'Looping effect' you have to add in order to hear your gun firing in Full Auto.
I hope you can help me with my Problem.
Cheers

Ok, seems like you changed nothing in the tweakfile.
Than that is the problem. Your sound cant be played because of format or whatever.Did you export using bf2 sound tools? I think that is necessary

Re: How to add Custom Sounds to PR
Create your custom sound making sure to save it as a .wav file (44khz for first person 16 bit, and 22khz 16 bit for third person), take note of how fast you want the weapon to fire ie 600 rounds per minute etc, then you use the bf2 sound tools add region tool, put in your desired weapons fire rate and hit okay. In the folder you have specified to save to, you will now have your new weapon sound that will loop at the correct rate when firing. Place the new sound in the weapons sound folder and make sure the names match or edit the tweak file to point to your new custom sound ie "objects/weapons/handheld/gerrif_g36/sounds/g36_fire_1p.wav". Hope this helped you out.

3p doesn't need 22khz, it should be mono though.

I should have specified that it doesn't need it, but it does save space.TBob wrote:3p doesn't need 22khz, it should be mono though.

But I still have some Problems:
I downloaded Bf2 sound Tools and there are a bunch of Files and Programs like:
Ogginfo.exe
Checkout_wav_setup_for_bf2_2 or
Compile_ogg_for_BF2
Now, I have no Idea where to start.
I'm sorry for being stupid, but I'm new to 'modding'.
I hope you help me.
