tornado paveway laser munition not tracking squad lead lase

Post by Carl Weathers »

Last night on silent eagle I copiloted tornado. Squad lead lased target, i saw it and was locked. Dropped paveway laser munition (not tv guided) on two separate occassions, both times bombs did not track.

Your pilot needs to slow down until the wings extend afaik.

No.

Make sure your jet is facing towards the target. Even tho you can look behind and lock target with the camera, bombs wont track if you drop them on those. It is limitation of BF2 that the target has to be in front of the weapon firing it. Maybe we should remove the 360deg camera from two seaters.

No... That is great for spotting and looking for targets, increasing the fun and teamwork. Many times, especially on a lower VD map like hades the bombs don't track even with the plane facing generally the correct direction, where as a single seater bombs would work. I like FFG said would recommend slowing down a bit and making sure your nose is basically on the lase.

Laser targeted bombs aren't that well targeted in 2 seaters xD

Because of this its just better to drop an LG

Hi Mats, my pilot actually was approaching the target as I launched the bomb. On the second run in particular, he was approaching level and slow enough that I had the target in sight and locked for a good 2-3 seconds before releasing.

To be clear, I only had two munitions available to me: Laser and TV. There was no option for LG or LT. I thought perhaps I was doing something wrong but I found a post from 2015 here on the forums mentioning the exact same issue. I'll look for it and link it here.

EDIT: Here's a link to the same issue reported previously: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... ost2057476

BTW thanks Mats and other devs for your continued efforts to keep PR awesome.
