I'd like to ask: how vulnerable to small arms fire are the ingame armored vehicles?
I'm asking because I just stumbled across a wikipedia article about LAV-25, and what surprised me is how lightly armored it is - only 5 to 10 mms of steel. So I believe even an AK shooting LAV from behind at moderate distance should be able to do a lot of damage to the crew inside.
But I've never seen anyone firing with small arms at the enemy armored vehicles, neither have I considered doing that myself, as I thought it would be just a waste of time.
So how is it coded, can you actually do some considerable harm to lightly armored vehicles with small arms?

7.62 does very light damage to most small APCs, considerable damage to MTLBs/BRDM.

If I recall correctly this used to be a valid tactic in WW2 where danish soldiers used LMGS and MMGS to shoot at german half tracks and tanks. they successfully disabled some of them after consistent fire.Lugi wrote:

however in PR(and probably real life if you think about it) anything smaller than a .50 does negligible damage to the point where you are:
1. giving your position away to something that most likely has the ability to do more damage to you than you are doing to it.
2. wasting ammo.
however, I can say that there are times when i'll order my squad to engage with small arms and rifles against something like a VN-3(or less) that's partially damaged. anything more is suicide.
another scenario I haven't encountered however I could see this as a valid tactic is if you were trapped(or had no choice to fall back, like if it was a last cache), basically a i'm-going-to-die-so-might-as-well-do-some-damage or something of that sort.

Well, you could technically disable sensors, cameras etc. if you manage to hit them. I highly doubt cameras and sights, radios etc. can resist bullets.

In Syria, rebels shoot with riffle on the tank/bmp to broke their sensor/direct view windows. Then they hide in building and relocate ASAP.
By the way, i didn't know the LAV armor was so thin. In fact, even a 50.cal can go through it (same through MTLB, BTR, and the famous M113 shitbox)
