Pr launcher disappeared, and weird BIN folder permissions.

I just downloaded the 1.4.18.0 update and i was suppose to do a map test with some other guys. But when i tried to launch the game, it CTDed when it was loading in to the menu. I wasn't able to open the game again because the PRlauncher.exe file just disappeared for no reason. I have no idea where the file went.

So a guy sent me his PRlauncher executable file to put it into my own game. But when i try to put the file in the BIN folder, it says "You must have permission to perform this action". Its very weird because i am the administrator and i set myself as the owner for the file. Me and tobi the fraggel tried to find a fix, but for some reason we cant get permission to the bin folder.

Can you replace other files in that folder?

No.

IN case you wonder why I answer, I was sitting in a teamviewer session with him and I tried copying files in there. Copying files work in all folders above bin but not in bin.

Ah...you mean the abrakadabra windows support tool.
We've tried that as well however. Even though I would have been suprised to see a restart making the file reappear.
As expected it didn't work. The file is still missing and it still can't be copied into bin

There seems to be more people having the Launcher or other files missing after the update, but none have the permissions issue you describe.
Can you rename or delete the bin folder? Maybe try exchanging it completely.

I am able to rename the file and even delete it. Just cant put any files in it...

Can you check whether you are on 1.4.17 or 1.4.18? Updating the version number is last step and should only be done when update was successful.
You can find version in:
C:\Games\Project Reality\mods\pr\mod.desc

I had the same problem. I found out that the 2 .exe files got removed for some reason and I got copies from someone else whos update went without problems and I wasn't able to place those in the Bin folder.
Once I read that you should reboot your pc, and I did that, I was able to place the files back in the Bin folder and I was able to play PR just fine again.

Also try deactivating your AV while updating.

Alright i was able to fix it. I just put the bin folder on desktop my desktop and i was able to put the EXE file inside.

ok im gonna reinstall the game redownload the updates deactivating my av to i hope the PRLauncher.exe dont gets delete after finishing the 1.4.19 update beacuse the solution is for the 1.4.18 and dont work with the last update

same issue here 4.19 windows 10. The fix provided is for 4.18 (except if I was too hasty reading it and missed something in the post ). I really dont want to reinstall the whole game and download all required updates, cause it's gonna take a long time with my internet connection...
