Headset??

Post by Softy »

My PR sounds aren’t as “good “ as it used to be. I’m using CORSAIR - VOID PRO RGB SE Wireless Dolby 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Gaming Headset for Pc.
Now before I used some other kind I can’t remember what, but I used to be able hear things so much more, IE directional sounds were easy to pinpoint, I could hear things across the map it felt like, Footsteps behind me were easy to make out. Now with these headphones all that is decreased at least by 60% and my volume is at 100.
If I use this headset in a different application like YouTube or a movie they sound amazing
3D sound and crispness is outstanding. So that tells me that maybe a usb headset isn’t good with PRs audio software? Also what’s the proper audio options I should have on/off
EAX? Hardware or software?
Thx for any insite.

P.s
I’m always the saw on the gas station roof in Fallujah West.

I use the Hyper X clouds.
Audio Effects at 100% (I turn PRBF2 down in the mixer and use buttons on my mouse to turn mumble volume up/down)
Medium sound quality and software audio with EAX enabled. (Always have EAX enabled or you will hear helicopters starting up 4km away and shit)

p.s. fuck you camper

I always had issues with using a USB headset. When I got a Xonar DG sound card and an ATH-M50x open air analog headset, I never had issues again.

First question - EAX directs the frequency response. Use it if available.

Second question - If it's on-board sound set to "software". If it's a add-on* sound card set to "hardware".

* Add-on cards help take the load off your CPU. Sound uses a lot of resources in game.

FFS guys stop buying freaking headsets! Buy proper dedicated open back stereo headphones and a proper dedicated mic/mod mic. Trust me, you'll save money and get much better audio quality in return.

Headsets and supposed 'surround sound' in headsets is mostly a borderline scam(unless you have big bucks), most of them are complete shit.

Interesting and a good point but it's a mute point for me as I use high quality full range studio monitors to hear game sounds and voice, and wrap my relatively inexpensive voice only limited frequency range headset to my head in order to hold the mic near my mouth.

Headsets tend to leave my head throbbing and ears numb after several hours gaming.
