[HELP] Problem Installing BF Editor

Post by 3===SPECTER===3 »

I'm trying to re-install BF Editor onto my new computer and trying to do the last step in the tutorial FH2 mapping tutorials - Installing and setting up the bf2editor and load all the content into the editor.

BUT, whenever I check all the boxes and hit ok.... nothing happens. A bunch of red code comes up saying 'x_already exists. Setting existing one as active.'
and in the end nothing gets loaded

I've extracted all the files into folders, basically followed the tutorial step by step.... any ideas?

Loading a map causes more problems. A bunch of message pop up saying that it can't find a certain static and then at the end the map loads and a bunch of red messages fly past saying something about directx9. It basically crashes the editor.

Note that I'm in Windows 10 and running the editor in comparability mode for Windows XP (it won't start otherwise).

EDIT: Let me know if anyone needs more information. This is loading content for FH2 btw, but it's set up in an FH2 Edit folder similar to PR Edit

You have 2 version of FH2 as Mod like the original FH2 and your FH2_edit?
You unzipped the zips in the correct modfolder (FH2_edit or better in your FH2-edit when you start up the BF2 Editor?editor?

I have also WIN10. Shouldn't be the problem.

yea, I have an fh2 and an fh2 - Edit folder. I unziped everything in the fh2 - Edit folder to the correct places. Basically followed that tutorial step-by-step. All of the 'objects_client.zip' folders are unziped into an 'objects' folder. :-?

Does anyone know what the red code means? 'X_already exists. Setting existing one as active.'?

What about the server.zip? They also in the same objects folder? Because when i look at the tut. - they only marked the client.zip in the pics. YOu need also to extract the server.zips.

[SOLVED]

Post by 3===SPECTER===3 »

So after some speaking with one of the FH2 mappers I believe I've solved my problem. In case anyone runs into the same thing;

I was running the old .exe (had to download the latest one spitfire made) https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f189-modding-tutorials/103456-more-stable-bf2editor-exe.html

but most importantly, I had to change my 'fh2 - Edit' folder to just 'fh2.' For some reason the editor wouldn't load the unpacked files if I tried to do it from 'fh2 - Edit,' but it worked if I loaded it from 'fh2.'

Weird :-?

I also come now behind why we haven't such problems with PR.
I forgot that we also get a special PR Editor (4km) version where they already integrated the new Editor setups for the pr_edit mod.

How you created your mod? You created a new mod in the Editor, save and closed it and than you copied the content over to your mod?

So you renamed your original FH2 and named your mod FH2.
