Sorry to reanimate old thread, but nothing much going on forum anyway. So here it is.

Russians currently have 2 Ivan Gren class assault landing ships, that can carry two Ka-29 transport-attack helicopters, although only one of them can take flight at a time, since there is only one heli landing platform at the back of the ship.

Naturally, it also carries 300 marines and 13 MBT tanks or 24 APCs instead/ or combinations of it.

Although, the main problem in game usage would be - that it can launch only ONE chopper. Whereas for stable game flow, we need at least 2 or 3 choppers airborne at the same time, its especially critical at the beginning of the game. With just 1 chopper, people will get stuck on the ship, or will not get supplies.

Probable solution would be to have 2 such ships standing close by in visual range, so that pilots could pick up soldiers if they see them, but not sure if game engine will handle it.

It's not really an LHD like the wasp is though, plus they aren't in service. So as you say with 1 helicopter landing spot it sounds difficult.

TBH if the effort is gonna go into making something like this for the Russian faction i guess we should wait until something that actually fits the description comes into Russian service, though we might be waiting a long time. If only the Mistral class deal had gone ahead.

Ye, it is not, Russia doesn't have those and will not have LHD Wasp type ships for many many years to come(we might be talking about tens of years), so we may as well just forget about them. This ship is realistically the closest to what the game needs. And those cargo ships look super ridiculous, and the game is about realism or at least the atmosphere of military authenticity.

Ye, Gren is not yet in service, currently still in testing stage on sea, but will be soon. Next Morgunov of the same class will go on testing soon too.

Well, I mean, if there are some who genuinely wants to make such ships, why not let em make it? Nobody gets hurt :) just want to discuss how it hypothetically could be best implemented with just one heli on board, instead of just brushing ship off completely; maybe make heli respawn instantly if gets destroyed or something, lots of motor boats to compensate for one chopper etc.

You could go the Falklands way: assault ship to spawn and cargo ship for extra helicopters.

Its from Lions Roar Battlefield 2 mod. Creator made it as a normal vehicle object without using standard bf2 static textures. I mean, can it be possible to do the same in PR? Like create a big vehicle with its own textures but it would be standing still as static.

That's actually stolen asset, from dcs :p

Transforming vehicle to staticobject and back not that demanding task, and indeed to big unique objects it's better to have seperate textures to avoid loading whole atlas.
