Where was that? And when as well.
Of all the dozens of air assaults we went on, and blackhawks on the flight lines, not a single one outside of the 160th guys had mini's on them, they were all M240's. This is in Iraq with the 101st Airborne, which is actually air assault, the US army's term for helocopter assaults, that's what we do. Just because I saw, and have a short video, of a mini on top of a M1114 Uparmored Humvee (again SF guys) doesn't mean all should have it in the game.
Ghost33 wrote:don't you guys think the LB is a little too quick? I mean the rate of acceleration and movement changes that it can do now would cause one the think that it would pull itself off of its rotors. could just be me but its still a fragile aircraft, and I would think very few rounds from any MG even squad level would drop it as its not armoured. Engines don't like bullets.
Oh and the BH's max speed is approximately 222Mph
the LB is only around 175Mph
So the black hawk can actually cruise faster, not as nimble but faster.
I like how PR slowed the acceleration rate of the cobra, i think the same should be done with the LB but just a little change so it doesnt 'rip from the rotors'.
also it seems that in real life there is almost never only one blackhawk available on the entire US military bases, so maybe if you are going to change the guns carried on the blackhawk, also increase the numbers on the ground (would like to see an increase in every vehicle on map) i know its not realistic to have a whole bunch of one to three manned vehicles... but theres really nothing stopping them from doing this in real life (a few guys grabbing jeeps and driving around to a spot then getting on the 50 cal's and shooting in unison.)
On the topic of the birds damage, i think that they should use the effect i have noticed on the cobra where it shakes when it is damaged which should be used alot when taking fire near the engine (if possible) and for the rockets the enemies always enjoy firing at me when i pilot need to have a much much slower acceleration and a more audible sound as they pass by you. the rockets as they are now seem to reach 0-200 mph within the second they are fired... so please tweak that.
Also, the BH's guns are too overpowered right now. Anyone here remember the tourney's 2nd campaign 1st battle? For those that weren't around at the time, the map was Muttrah City and the blackhawk killed 200 people I believe.
The current BH is overpowered, unrealistic, and unbalanced.

Have you seen a vid of the real minigun. It destroys everything with just a single sweep.
THe pr version is weak compared to it.

haha yep that was awsome. Very comforting to have it above as. It was manned by mr crawley and others i beleive.
blackhawk could be faster I agree. Slow acceleration but high top speed for all helis I beleive.

It destroy's area targets, that is large groups of infantry or vehicles. But so does a tank heat round, but it can't be model'd as such. And just because it exist in small numbers, doesn't mean it should be standard equipment in this game.
Kenway, if you want to remodel an enitrely new BHawk model with M240s, im sure the mod team would be happy to use it. Until then, dont makes statements like "Thats why its being changed to 240" when there is no truth in that statement.

I've heard things, and it wouldn't be an entirely new model, afaik, just swapped weps. Can we get a word devs, is the mini being replaced with the M240?

It would be an entirely new model. Can't edit EA work.

[R-DEV]Eggman has confirmed that at some point the BH will definetly be down gunned to M240s. However, due to much more pressing concerns (like loosing the Type-56 and getting scopes, etc for riflemen, finishing off the Brits, and such...) I would imagine its a fairly long way off.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

All the black hawks in Black Hawk Down the movie had miniguns attached.
Movie = Hollywood = Realism!
Period

That's because they were from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and are the only Black Hawks that are armed with Miniguns, as stated above.
I don't know if the BH's in PR are supposed to be Night Stalkers but I would hate to see them lose their guns. They need to be powerful since they're slow bullet magnets.

actually black hawk down is a pretty realistic movie. (well judging from the book and the fact that they had some of the rangers who faught there making the movie with them so they could make it accurate) And they had miniguns, but as already mentioned by Onslaught they were the 160th SOAR, so it's a little different. That's like saying most assault rifles are equipped with sopmod kits/some other fancy stuff because the delta force uses them.

So when will he confirm the that the humvee will be down gunned to a M240??
I would think that, including the whole Humvee issue would be more pressing than the BH becuase PR is really shines at infantry, light vehicle combat - helis are good but light vehicles are more crucial to the gameplay!
In reply to Top Cat, That is because you never see competency on the part of the pilots, so ground transport is much "safer" meanwhile in Iraq I am fairly certain guys would rather fly than drive, a lot less risk.
Also when it comes to the Little Bird, it was an awesome transport before it got changed over into a flying bullet. It is far too fast right now. When I'm on the verge of keeping pace with an A-10 theres something wrong with the picture. BlackHawk needs to be faster with a little splash damage for the minigun to simulate 4000rpm of 22mm ammo (PS: The miniguns on the Blackhawks are NOT M134s... they are General Electric 22mm Miniguns, can't remember the actual designation, I apologize. But if anything they need to be upped)

They are not 22mm bub. A A-10 carries a 30mm cannon, which is roughly the size of 1/2 the jet. The bradley has a 25mm cannon and look how fast it fires. The recoil of a 22mm gattling cannon would rip a blackhawk apart.
