Now that heli's are being tweaked for more realism with TOW systems and zoom systems what about air combat? Many more things can be done for eg... mapping a key to gear up or gear down... ( Bring weals up or down)

So every jet in PR uses heat seeking missiles...the F-16 in PR which has no ATG loadout should have different ATA weapons.. the F_15 should also be included. Like the AIM-120 RAm which is radar guided.... we could have chaff for countermeusers. Also i don't know what system we would use to ahieve a lock for a radar guided missile but heres an idea.

When the AIM-120 is selected a small circle appears inside the hud, you must get your target inside this cirlcle for 1-2 secs to ahieve a lock... because it's harder to get the lock then a IR missile the AIM-120 should be more hit efficient..

Just some ideas.. also for realism you should not be able to fire the cannon and another weapon at the same time.... POE2 done that... A-10 pilots don't fire there cannon and fire hydra at the same time.

Also, the missles should have a much larger impact range.. and it should be harder for jets to shake them once locked. I think it should be harder to lock, easier to kill than the other way around.

Good idea but sounds like a lot of work. It would weed out the bad pilots and make only the experts fly the jets with some skill.

Yer exactly Maistros if we were to make Air combat very realistic it simply wouldn't be fun... because it's easy to achieve a lock in real life and in real life the missiles hardly ever miss. But like you said it should be harder to achieve a lock but once locked the missile should hit most of the time and they should be one hit kills.

And to the member who posted above me... well this is a realism mod not a "pick up and play" you need to learn things.

One thing at a time guys.... ground vehicles take alot of time, probably the next thing on the agenda after ground vehicles have been given an overhaul is the jets...

In reality American jets can take out enemy jets from 10-20+ miles away. Realistic but not much fun.

bah American Jets my but, you seen what Russian jets do? They are flipping amazing, they were even making rear firing air-to-air missles! Its not just America that make good planes ther are other country ya know, if you had The Su-37 (which i know will never fly again) against a F/A-22 in a dogfight guns only the Su-37 owuld win but then the Typhoon would come and pwn all.

Dogfighting in PR is good at the moment, ill fly high in the skies waiting for a Fighter or Bomber to be spotted then fly Intercept and destroy, one thing its is annoying though is the Flares and Chaff release, maybe everytime you press X or whatever button it release 1 flare or chaff or both and can repeatidly press it untill it runs out.

I'm glad you said it!

Granted America has more money to spend on armed forces and generally has the edge when it comes to numbers (not troops though I think China would have a slight advantage there :) ), but there's plenty other countries out there that have >= Skill and equipment.

what ever we do, PR is allways going to have unrealistic air combat cos BF2 is simply a bad engine for a flight sim hehe.

We will do our best thou to improve them as much as possible, thou I wouldn't exspect to much till v1 when we start to get the brit jets ingame and then we will tweak the other jets at the same time :)

Its ok Rhino we know how many sleepless nights you guys have working on this , and yes of course the engine sucks but eh? You guy's do your best and thats all we can ask for, and for the thing where Expert pilots get it better, thats real life, What do you want? a new pilot able to beat a Ace?
If you want to fly and win pratice, only when you pratice may you dance in the sky with other pilots and maybe last longer
