Weird coincidences in the smoke config
Hi to all.
It was very painful for me to see that my own work was published in this way:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/blog.p ... 2#comments
Arab stolen it from AIX2 Reality mod, and he knows it - not from the "Zone of Continuous Fire 2".
In march 2018 I've published a video of a working smokescreen on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez9QSLDrSnA
Also you can see all other steps of creating in earlier videos.
As I understand, this man is registered here, as Arab http://www.battlefieldsingleplayer.com/ ... 9015&st=15
Later my bomber car AI was published by another authors as their own work.
Just a coincidence? I don't think so.
Why you're guys doing it? Are you want to hurt another modders, or you're just a young men wishing to be famous?

Re: PR devs lie about the smoke config
Like Arab said in the linked comment, he did ask the creators of "Zone of Continuous Fire 2" for permission of their code. We did not attempt in anyway to steal this from anyone.
Our suicide AI got created by Arab himself. We are no moderators of battlefieldsingleplayer.com, so if someone posted your work as theirs, you should contact them, not us.

He lies, and I can provide all needed information.Like Arab said in the linked comment, he did ask the creators of "Zone of Continuous Fire 2" for permission of their code.
Or, as I understand, you're covering him - again?
I wrote to him just after he published that post, and he ignored it. Then, after a year, the info about ZoCF2 appears.
I'm not saying that something was published there. We are no moderators of battlefieldsingleplayer.com, so if someone posted your work as theirs, you should contact them, not us
As I understand, the current PR devs doesn't care about morale or anything. You're the TEAM, we are the small people, right?

Re: PR devs lie about the smoke config
You posted your questions a month after the blog got posted. We do not get any notification when someone posts a comment on a blog and as time goes on its less likely to get noticed. Like I said before, we asked ArmorRus for permission and he granted it. He also informed us to mention SatNav for creating the colmesh and we will do that in the changelog.
We dont know where ArmorRus got the idea from, but we have it from him. Again we never tried to steal anything from you. If you want, you can send me your implementation and we will compare it to try to figure out who originally created it

Really? https://www.realitymod.com/forum/blog.php?bt=11025 - Posted 2018-10-17 at 07:51 by MaxP Just a month after the post.We do not get any notification when someone posts a comment on a blog and as time goes on
I'm just saying it was stolen from my mod, and I can provide any needed information.Like I said before, we asked ArmorRus for permission and he granted it
If someone gave you his permission to publish it, it doesn't change the fact, and doesn't make you "clear".
But it is not a problem. You want it - you take it. You can improve it? Excellent. But don't tell the community that it is yours or someone, when it isn't. Don't be ********.
I wrote to Arab, I wrote to you, that I am the author - just a month after the Arab's post. And all of you ignored it.
And you, guys, better find out the better explanation.
So... Who change his mind so quickly?[R-DEV]Mineral
PR:BF2 Lead Designer
Oh and Arab did not use any of your content or code. He has been experimenting with multiple methods for very long time before finding what he talks about in that post. We always credit somebody if we use their idea or methods. Like he does with Satnav. So no worries there !
orwe asked ArmorRus for permission and he granted it
?Arab ... has been experimenting with multiple methods for very long time
He experimented for a very long time, implemented it, and then asked for permission from the author of unknown stock-alike mod?
I have all mod archives from the beginning, and of course I have all the history. If you want, you can send me your implementation and we will compare it to try to figure out who originally created it

I've started to mod the AIX2 for my own local games in 2015 or earlier, and always wished to have a working smoke grenade. I tried the tweak from DJBarney (for FH2), that didn't work in coop.
After some time, I started again - from adapting PR GLU-1 bomb for vanilla mechanics:
https://youtu.be/FT0xfBqjaJU
2.03.2018
Ths point of doing so is that I'm playing mostly coop, and the SatNav version didn't work in client-server configuration.
Then I've improved the static weapon spawning:
https://youtu.be/RBnXm4AgH_A
Then - the Molotov coctails.
https://youtu.be/ofeMdDaIKJw
Here is the video from testing:
https://youtu.be/QkhXfW_xT4s
Remember this asset.
After that I've realized that I can make a smokescreen with this mechanics (remember, it is all comes from GLU-1 bomb, that works in PR, right?).
Finally, 12.03.2018, I've created this:
https://youtu.be/ez9QSLDrSnA
Then, 1 may 2018, I gave it to DJBarney from FH2 forums, who was really happy with it: http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.p ... #msg356797
The ArmorRus even didn't change anything in files, so you can see the signs of testing in it:
ObjectTemplate.collisionMesh smokescreen
rem bunker_large
rem xp2_oilsilo_01
rem oilcistern_02
Remeber these cictern? Is it clear enough?
Here is the files from v.4.0: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1x09hh8 ... sp=sharing
As you can see, it was created 20.03.2018 - the most early date of it.
And you couldn't find any sources of it before.
And here is the smokescreen folder from ZoCF2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15Kv_-N ... sp=sharing
All config files are the same.
In ZoCF2, only hgr_smoke.tweak was changed by ArmorRus (to change the grenade model to more suitable on), and it is from 15.08.2018
So, most probably it was taken in august 2018.
Then, Arab creates the post, from 22.09.2018
17.10.2018 I asking him in PM: Hi, can you say where do you get the config for smoke grenades?
And another one.
All ignored by him. It means - he didn't answered me at all.
Then, 2.03.2019 (!) he answers me at the post page, and adding the info about ZoCF2 mod in the post. Is it strange, don't you think so?
And now, the most interesting thing.
As we can remember, I've started from GLU-1 napalm bomb, and tried to adapt it for a stock BF2.
Then I've come to smokescreen implementation.
But. If the GLU-1 works, Arab didn't need to make it such way, absolutey.
He had a working napalm, which could be adated for somescreen easily.
1. Even if it wasn't taken from my mod directly (we can't trace it), it was given to Arab from someone who take it from my mod directly.
There is a guy at moddb called himself Golden3. It is the banned bluehawk112.
He is inadequate, and he tried to publish some of my work already.
Ooops. Here is he, with Arab, at bfsingleplayer: http://www.battlefieldsingleplayer.com/ ... 9015&st=15
Coincidence again, no doubt ))
2. Arab knows that I'm the author.
3. Most likely the AI bomber was taken from me too - as it was announced the same time, in the same time period after mine as the smokescreen.
I've always been ready to share any of my work with PR team (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/showth ... ost2153590 - 27.12.2016), but stealing and liyng... This is ridiculous.
P.S. BTW, I've created the tank APS, using the same spawning mechanics (4.11.201
https://youtu.be/73c1WvJrTCE
Sorry, I was too late for stealing it in time.

Re: PR devs lie about the smoke config
I'm going to lock this thread for now. Not to censor maxp or anyone else but to keep nonsense and memes from others out.
MaxP please provide any further information you got to Mats over pm. We will also keep in touch that way.
Once the issue is resolved we can post an update in this thread and open it again.

Re: PR devs lie about the smoke config
We would like to make a statement on behalf of the team and particularly one of our developers. We hold the individual rights of mod-creators in high regard as much as our own. We take pride in our own work and protect it. Therefore, we also respect the rights of all creators to the best of our abilities. But sometimes we make mistakes, and it's then our duty to rectify them as best we can.
Therefore, we hereby apologize to MaxP for incorrectly crediting the author of the work on the smoke for AI code he created and for not correctly verifying our source of the code. We meant no ill-will or had no attempt to steal or claim his work. We will correctly credit him in the future for his work and thank him for allowing us to implement his work on the smoke for AI code into a future version of Project Reality:BF2.
Unravelling all the mistakes we made took quite some time and we will not stop there. We are eager to prevent this from happening again and will adjust our procedures to learn from this. We are looking forward to more collaboration within the modding community and encourage anyone to share their work.

Re: PR devs lie about the smoke config
Hey MaxP.
As Mineral said and on behalf of the PR Team and the Community, I would like to apologize to you for both falsely credited ArmourRus as the creator, the lack of clear language used in the blog which made everyone think that I have did it (which was never my intention) as it was the lack of communication between us as a result of my actions which caused the lack of transparency and therefore distrust.
Straight after all communications has been cleared up and concluded, I immediately edited the blog to properly credit you as the original author, same with the YouTube video. You had kindly offered for us to use your work for both the PR and the FH2 Team which I should've asked you in the first place to use which would have avoided this problem to escalate to the point that it has. My miscommunication, misunderstanding and lack of action resulted in this.
A version of the mod mentioned in private was released last year but taken down. I had a copy from google searching it which was in a website, and I did seek it because it had the file that I assumed was ArmorRus's due to the credits stating AI was done by him, despite lately going back and realizing your modifiedByUser has your name. This was a stupid mistake on my part.
I had no contact with anyone, and I could figure out the PCO code easily as I've been doing experiments with them from around early 2018.
For the bomb car AI, there was leftover code from previous modding attempts by past coop devs and I spent time experimenting with ideas including research around BFSP, BF2Editor Forum etc for information and eventually fixing those. These were not taken from your mod in any way.
Indeed I have an account in BFSP Forum but that's to post fixes, ideas and to help with the community. I am against people stealing work and claiming it as their own. This is not what modding is about. Permission and credit comes first. The way I did things here wasn't good. It should be permission first, work later and especially not after information has been published - and I should've replied to your posts to confirm that those were your changes.
I do acknowledge that there's room for improvement here and I've since learned from these mistakes and will not repeat them again. Again, I'm sorry about this whole incident and I hope that it hasn't affected your trust and your confidence in us and the community.
Regards,
-[R-DEV]Arab

So, it leads me to the some sort of apophenia - until we found that ArmorRus included that onfig in the demo version, that I didn't knew about.
Sorry for blaming you in stealing, as I understand that you believed the ArmorRus was the author (language barrier?) - but just imagine how it looks from my point of view.

In the first message I said "most likely" - from the point I've described.
I haven't seen the PR version.

If bluehawk112 came here or contacted me in anyway and try to start trouble, I'll instantly report him. Same with anyone. I have no tolerance for anyone stealing, sharing or plagiarizing work that wasn't created by them in the first place without permission.
