Good question I always thought that AK with wood stock gives you more accuracy over longer distances.
I also thought that was Ak47 and the other AK was AK74 but I am probably wrong....

There are 3 AK's for Insurgent's "Insurgent" class: AKM, AKMS, Type 56-1 (4 if you count officer class)

Insurgent #1: Type 56
Insurgent #3: AKM or AKMS

They are identical except:

AKM is 0.1 second faster to deploy compared to AKMS & Type 56 (ready to fire when swapping weapons)

Type 56-1
has ~12% more vertical recoil.
has ~40% more horizontal recoil.

TLDR:
AKM is superior to both weapons, always use AKM (the solid stock).
AKMS is okay to use but a tiny tiny bit slower to deploy compared to AKM.
Type 56-1 is garbage and will make you miss a lot more shots.

Fun fact: Insurgent Officer Alt's AK (PM MD 63) is the best AK on the team. It has all the strengths of the AKM and lower recoil.

Source: check the files if you don't believe me.

AK-47 and Type-56 are identical. Can't find any AKS-47 in files, only AKMS which is also identical.

Soz long delay

Don't know different variations, but the shorter the weapon is the less accurate it will be. The recoil on a 47 is quite hefty and having the longer barrel helps to stabilize it more. I'm old school Army and we used to have the 7.62 SLR (or FN). It was a long weapon but accurate. On annual shooting tests you had to be able to hit a target at 600m
