Video series about mapping in BF2

Post by Ts4EVER »

Hi,
I am making a video series about making maps for FH2. Obviously much of this is useful for PR mapping as well, so you might be interested:

Hope this is the correct forum section for this.

That's really cool Ts4EVER! Only seriously quickly skimmed through your first video but I like your style of research and planning, do a lot of the same myself, just without having to look at such old maps and historical data since I haven't made a WW2 or before map hehe :D

Thanks for bringing terrain.party to my attention, it's really neat, but is there any way to download the data at some other resolution than 1081x1081? No matter the size of the area I select, I get it in that resolution.

Sadly no, second video will be out on Sunday and show what I do with the heightmaps. No matter what, you will have to improve them. If it is simple terrain like in this case (just snow, no cliffs etc) you can just smooth it over with a Gaussian filter, for more advanced stuff you need to run it through world machine or something similar.

+1

I hope we can see more in the future about mapping and handling the BfEditor.
Doesn't matter for which bf2 mod.

Only ever used terrain part for city skylines. Its always required a good bit of PS work.

Love the snowy footprint textures in the trenches. Great stuff.

Watching you move your mouse every time you want to change brush settings: ctrl+scroll changes brush size while shift+scroll changes strength.

If you are just starting I would look at finishing a map that is near completion just so you can look and see how things are done. I believe Kumbula is very close and sbeneh v2 is a bit farther behind that.
