Disable specific parts of a vehicle
I really like the idea of disabling parts of tanks, humvees, etc. The one issue I had however was that it would be random. If you can have different damages for different parts of the tank, then you could exploit that to make it specific parts of the vehicle. For example, you make so that the right track when hit by a rpg would take 20 damage (an arbitrary number) and the left 21. This differenceis neglidgable and would facilitate the seccond part of my idea. You would have to make it so that only the right track, for exaple would have 20 damage to work. You would then have to create a script to check for damage, and if it was 20 damage, then you know it was a hit to the right. You could then selectively disable only the right track. The only issue I see arising is that it could be a resource hog.

I know that damage to different parts of a vehicle is coming soon, but the random damage thing sounds interesting.
Tell me if i'm right but are you trying to say that if a vehicle is hit in the same exact point with the same weapon on seperate occasions the damage caused could vary randomly within specific constraints??

id like to see on humvee's when you shoot a tire with like something as in a LAT it would just not move instead of just keep going or starting on fire...also depending on how much c4 is used when a vehicle goes and gets hit by an IED starting on fire is good but not blow up completely but then again all depending on how much c4 is used

I understand what you were going for, but you have to remember that there are many factors that give damage in BF2, and damage changes over distance, etc. so trying to define damage points from different sections wouldn't really work.myurko wrote:No, right now the devs plan for disabling parts is random (i.e. gets hit on top and track or other random part goes down). This is because the bf2 engine does not report where there was a hit. My idea is a way to tell where on the vehicle that the projectile hit.
