Spawn times?

Post by keyser Soeze.KIA. »

How long will the spawntimes be?

Person id say something like 30-50 sec.

Vehicles - Tanks, choppers, APC, Aircraft, AA something like 3-4 min
Jeeps and buggys a little bit less, maybe 2,5 min

again and again this topic comes up and again and again i say there are more creative ways to make players hold onto their lives without dying and having to stare at their screen for upwards of a minute.

Yeah im not affraid of long spawntimes. Surely 7 min would wrk allso.

Agreed as BF2 is now the inf has no part in the game. Truly boring.

If the spawn times was 5 min, how long where they medable ?

if your going to have long respawn times then you have to provide somthing else to do while your dead. other then stare for 7 min.

i like the idea of PR mainly focusing on infantry, thats where most of the action is... unless you get tank battles with 5-6 tanks on each team, and taking cover behind smoke and repairing ala POE map Darfur, but i liek infantry comming first support vehicles second, this also adds to keeping your vehicle "alive" as long as possible. and, ah, it just really excites me, the idea of having this great battle with ground troops, and the enemy seems to be winning.... then one of your tanks comes over the horizon and starts blasting... =D

and as for troop spawning, here is an idea that dawned on me, if your SL is alive, you have a 1 minute (or whatever time) spawn wait, but if he dies, none of the squad members can respawn until he does. i dont know if it adds or takes away to realism, but i couldnt imagine soldiers going out to battle WITHOUT their SL, also, if each troop spawns at his own time, they might just take off in a vehicle... which will leave the rest of the squad SOL on a ride unless he goes back and forth picking up and dropping off guys.

Just up the amount of maximum allowable squads, and have a squad for each tank crew, heli crew, etc. I ususally do taht when flying my beloved cobra around, helps a lot to scream to the copilot "HES ON THE LEFT" instead of hovering and hoping he sees it...

what about several infantry squads, one armour squad and one air squad? then you don't have to swap squads when you go from one chopper to the other and all airmen would have a direct link to eachother so like the cobra pilot can tell the blackhawk pilot 'area cleared, bring in the troops' without having to either type or tell the commander who tells the bhpilot.

We at PR want to make a realistic combat simulator out of BF2 but we also realise that this is still a game.

IIRC spawn time is a server variable, but if we have any power to influence it, we will have rather extended vehicle spawn times but less extensive player spawn times.

We dont want to have a mod that nobody plays :P

solodude23 wrote:Definantly sounds good keef. I imagine the thing just like you do as for your first paragraph. Second paragraph seems like a good idea if your normal infantry, but what about if your a pilot or tank operator? You most likley wouldn't be in a squad then. (well you might be if your a squad tank crew) And same thing for snipers. They normally have a 2 man team. (One Sniper, one Spotter, however I doubt this will be added in)

That Idea should only go for those with squad kits if it is implimented.

ah good point

and personally, id LOVE to see sniper/spotter pairs, me and my friend used to do this on ET he would be a medic, and id be a sniper, he would look through his binocs, find a target and tell me, if a bad guy came near us, he could easily take them out with his sub machine gun, and he could heal us, it worked really well.

and if PR did implement spotters, would sniper and spotter have? i think this:

Spotter
1 knife
2 m-4 (silenced?)
3 binocs that zoom in and out easily on a little tripod, and how about when they spot a target, an arrow shows up on the snipers HUD that points left right up and down towards the direction the target is in, i think its realistic because its about the equivilant to a spotter saying "by that tree on the right"

Sniper
1 knife
2 pistol (silenced?)
3 sniper rifle
4 claymores
