Current progress with highpoly model of jeep for japanese faction:
Jeep is planned in 2 variants - up armored (as shown on screenshots) with M2 Browning, and without turret armor and weaponry, but with ability to use personal weapons for person located on turret place.

Looks so neat! Always dreamed about a free kit spot for the gunner . HAT/LAT jeep on the run, rushing the ennemy FOB tossing grenade/gl. What about a sniper/marksman moving vehicle even better; a moving SL calling Area attack straight on arrival....
To sum it up:
“Omae wa mou shindeiru!!!”
PS: Is there any Type 96 WAPC planned for JSDF? That would be awesome!

Yes it is planned in two variants (mounted with AGL type 96 and M2)
Well plans with M2 didn't go so well... This variant is very rare and in reality it looks differently with less protection for the gunner as expected. Another option is much more spreaded version with mounted Minimi. For less firepower gunner will become almost invulnerable. The problems are:
- Is it feels balanced?
- As i know there are no Minimi as stationary weapon system. Is it hard to transform existing one for infantry into mounted version?
(Also there is possibility that turret will have limited angles for rotation due to extended MG)
(this is version with Sumitomo Minimi, japanese FN Minimi manufactured by license)
Updated wheels (not turbo smoothed because my laptop is not feeling well with it) :
And early version of seats (feels to wide but photos say the opposite) :
Also i have made a decision switch to Minimi as turret gun since M2 variant is rare enough in JSDF and similar to NSVT on MEC UAZ in terms of angle rotation and placement
Would be cool to see low poly 3rd person view model. There is nothing much to give feedback now for high poly. But sure looks cool. Afaik, yeah, existing handheld weapon can be attached to vehicles. Also for reference, look up vehicles in bf2meshview, in terms of details in 3rd p.
Using Minimi should be no problem.
As for the shooting infantry weapons from hatch you have to consider that the gunner will not be able to duck and as such will be rather exposed. So that variant might become undesirable to be used

I agree with you, I mean, yeah it would be a new experience to have grenades or rockets being fired from a jeep, but ARs are no good at this position.

Make a special seat then you can enter that you can reload in.

That would reduce transport slots, but I guess if it it mainly intended as AT vehicle that wont matter. However another issue is that you could shoot from inside through the walls of the jeep as you cannot hit your own vehicle.

It only has 4 seats and then 1 for gunner. You have a spare.

I think, you can only limit the left-right rotation for seats that have active infantry weapon. Up-down is always same as on foot.
Having an open seat like that as a gunner probably can work. I just wanted to point out the limitations as people already complained about the WW2 tank commanders being unable to duck.

There are cars where you can shoot from sticking from right window (with left-right angle locked) and from the sunroof. I don't see where is the problem here. Just make this seat without duck option. Some people would adapt to the given options where others will complain.

Well, this is a little bit different. Tank need crew to properly operate, where here this is just a vehicle for inf.

Never heard somebody complaining about civilian cars vulnerability for example, maybe there is the issue with vulnerability due to slow movement. As for this jeep i think it's appropriate price for having an ability to fire ATGM/LAT/MG on the move (also in this case ATGM operator should stand on special platform which will make him even more exposed).
As for WW2 tank crew, 3rd position could be commander with triplex and closed hatch.
Highpoly is complete! (At least most details i wanted are done)
The only thing left to do is smoke grenade launchers, and maybe ports for towing:
And i want to ask about one thing - Fennek has moving arrow for speedmeter (or tachometer?), is it possible to make speedmeter and tachometer arrows move differently for this vehicle? It doesn't matter how accurate it will be, just for feature.
