Hi,
It's been a while since I've been on the forums. I'm getting back into the basic BF2 game before I get into the PR Mod. In the past two days I've managed to setup BF2 v1.5 and a dedicated server for my nieces and nephews to play on. But, I managed to get myself in a bit of a jam. I am hoping someone here could help. My dedicated server had 'kicked' me out for excessive teamkills. I went into the server window and typed the following commands:
admin.removeAddressFromBanList
admin.clearBanList
admin.listBannedAddresses
admin.listBannedKeys
To make this short. Those commands didn't reveal anything. So, I removed the server and made a new one from scratch. Got into the server - remember, everyone else can play, and same thing happened. Got kicked out for excessive team kills.
Is there a file kept on my server machine that needs to be deleted? I'm running my own dedicated server. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Need help
BF2\mods\bf2\settings\banlist.con
Those commands should work though. Are you sure you're not getting kicked due to other reasons?

Re: Need help
Just tried it again. Still getting the 'you have been kicked due to excessive teamkills/votes/etc...
I've looked for a 'banlist.txt' file. Found one banlist.txt on the main rig (wierd) and deleted the contents of the file. Fired up the game and still can't get in. There has to be another way the computer is keeping the information. I've checked both the main rig and laptop (server). I'm puzzled.
Btw. The banlist.con file is empty within the server. Go figure.
I do have Gamespy and punkbuster running. But, both are not needed anymore.

Re: Need help
Update: I think the mystery is getting deep on this one. So, I got up early this morning thinking that after restarting the server that this problem would go away. No it hasn't. After starting the server up and getting into it, I was kicked immediately for excessive teamkills/vote/etc... I went to the server directory and saw the banlist.con file. It was empty, but it was timestamped that it had been updated.
I'm wondering if there is another type of ban with a dedicated server that keeps the banlist.con file empty but redirected somewhere else. I did unplug the main internet to the modem. So nobody had outside internet. Ran the server which is on a LAN and still had the same problem. This is a mystery.

admin.listBannedAddresses
admin.listBannedKeys
Make sure you're also running the server with sv.internet 0
PB might have a ban system, just disable PB.

sv.punkbuster 0
Both that and sv.internet in the serversettings.con file, not while the server is running

Re: Need help
Well, this morning I tried a little experiment. I have 3 battlefield 2 servers. Two are under the directory c:\program files(x86)\etc... The other is located on another HDD. The server on the other HDD I can log in. No problem. The first two I get the error on.
I cannot find any PB log files at all. Could there be some sort of registry entry that could prevent playing on the servers under C:\program files(x86)?

Re: Need help
I did find something interesting in a logfile that I have.
It stated the following:
Warning: couldn't read "admin/default.cfg.": [error 2] No such file or directory: 'admin/default.cfg'
initializing default admin/rcon module
initializing autobalance script
initializing tk-punish script
initializing player connect checking script
shutting down default admin/rcon module
on the servers under C:\program files(x86)... they have the tk-punish set to 0.
So, on each it has:
sv.internet 0
sv.punkBuster 0
sv.tkPunishEnabled 0
sv.tkNumPunishToKick 3 (first server is set to 3, second server is set to 0), both servers have the "intializing tk-punish script" So, in the serversettings.con file, editing this does no good. Ideas?
sv.tkPunishByDefault 0
Trying to figure out how the tk-punish script is initializing.

Re: Need help
sv.adminscript, set it to ""
Make sure sv.internet is 0 and sv.punkbuster is 0. Actually, post your settings.con file.

Alon,
Finally getting back to this post. I deleted both the client and server and started over. Everything works now.
Thank you for your help!
