USING THE LASE BINOS

Post by =-=kittykiller2 »

ive always been unsure how these work when painting a target,

in 0.8 or something you could see enemy lases and a sort of box that flew to them

im out of practice i want to know

1, is the lase shot or instantly marked
2.are lases sticky to the target
3.can as a squad leader see my own lases?
4.if you have a spotter with lase binos can he also paint targets just not mark them on the map?
5i assume as soon as i turn the laze on it appears and when laser is turned off it stops?, does this mean i have to be careful where i point them?

many thanks

1. Yes
2. Yes, there's slight aim assist and full lag compensation, but stick for about 0.3 seconds
3. Everyone in a cas vehicle can see lases
4. As long as you have a GLTD with the "ON/OFF" text, you can lase.
5. Yes

Don't remember, I think we decided to not allow jets to lock on enemy lases? not sure.

Counterlazing doesn't work if you laze the (e.g.) a tank directly as the jet will see it's a friendly vehicle being lazed, but if you just laze the ground next to it it works fine.

No, I don't think that matters anymore. It doesn't stick on the engine-level.

why can't a spotter send a cas request without an SL marker

You can, the Q menu switches and lets you do it.

when the bombs are out, they no longer care whether it's friendly or enemy, oof.

In theory if I was lasing for a jet, he drops bomb but i stop lasing at the same time. The bomb will direct to the nearest laze it can find or continue to the old laze.

I checked and I do assign team to the lase object, so it should not lock on friendly lases.

Bombs are coded as guided missiles, they will not lock on a lase that has the same team assigned to it (your lase target gets the enemy team). But I don't know if the "redirect" mechanic works with this target type.

so all this counterlaze business is a thing of the past or poorly remembered. i guess unless u had an enemy kit perhaps we did.

You can still counter-laze the ground next to enemy vehicle, no ?

I don't know if "redirect" works on this type of lock. Pretty sure its a different mode than anti air.
