Thought this was brought up, but I didn't see it.
The sights on the K98 are freaking terrible.
In real life they are very well designed sights that are easy to see and use, and very accurate. The front sight is very nice to use and has a natural aiming point that draws your eye in with its shape.
Also, the real life K98 sights are WAY better than the fat Garand peep hole and front post sights. In real life the Garand's front sight will be the width of a man's shoulders at 200 yards. So presumable your target is somewhere in the middle of the top of the fat post...
But the K98's front sight comes to a point, and you can target the head, not just guessing the middle of the shoulders somewhere.
The PR K98 sights are a few muddled colored pixels of black, white, gray, and other gray that basically have you aiming with a space in the super tiny V notch, maybe looking for the one pixel that is supposed to be the front sight.

You don't see gameplay implications. kar98k ingame is already OP (one shot kill) compared to Garand at long, mid and arguably close range.WingWalker wrote:Thought this was brought up, but I didn't see it.

Consider also, that in real life you can only focus your eyes on your front sight (target blurred, rear sight blurred as well) or on the target (which would seriously affect the clarity of your front sight and is probably only suitable for close range and pistols anyway).
I kinda agree with you the aperture sight of Garand should probably get slightly more deviation cooldown though.
However, aperture sights of Garand make up for a better view on target and overall easier aiming by design.

With any rifle's sights you can only focus on one thing at at time. You will not have the front sight and your target in focus at the same time.
You do not stare at the front sight, you focus your eye back and forth between your target and the front sight, but primarily on your target.
The back peep sight is there just to give you a natural alignment from your eye to the front sight, and your eye would not be focused on the peep hole at all, it would be a blurry ring.
But we don't have to worry about this in PR.
Just mean the K98 sights in real life are not that tiny.
Other iron sight bolt action rifles in PR don't have such tiny sights either. They are very clear to see and aim with.

Re: K98 Sights are Terrible
I understand your point, K98 front sight, not trying to derail the topic, but...
The target ain't going to change into an 8 foot tall wildebeest, refocusing back and forth between front sight and the target does nothing. You let the target remain blurry behind the focused front sight, and send the round.
Respectfully, I strongly disagree... coming from someone who sends a few thousand round downrange every year: You focus your eye on the front sight. Reason: edit wording; did not mean to offend, was just stating fact. cheers!

You strongly disagree with 5 words in my whole post?SemlerPDX wrote:Strongly disagree...
I think you want to go find a gun forum somewhere where you can argue opinions as facts all day.
