dedicated tank/ifv commander seat

dont know if this was discussed before but may i ask if the addition of a commander seat to heavy armored vehicles was ever on the table, i find the current system really strange especially for a game like pr. tanks are usually just manned by 2 people and the mg spot is reserved for turning off the engine. is there a game engine limitation that prevents commander from being possible or is this just intentional
