Now I'm not saying maps with helicopters are inferior, but I am saying maps purely based on logi and transport trucks to build FOBs are more teamwork and strategy oriented. You need to protect your supply routes from the inevitable combat engi ninja with a jeep and ammo boxes, protect your fobs because they are not as easy to get up as the round progresses, and you need to gradually push the front line forward. Maps without helicopters also focus the combat much more as you won't have pushes coming from directions other than where the enemy frontline is. Yes squads can and will do long flanks, but the time it takes to pull this off on foot make it difficult and time intensive. Are they slower and maybe less *fun*? Maybe, but more intense and immersive? I think so.
Also I like how the perfectly normal and logical strategy for both teams on Fool's Road is to mine the hell out of the road. Was this the map designer's intent?

Re: Thoughts
This is why I think game play is better on large INF maps where most of your team is not sitting in asset squads.

Interesting thread.
Although yes l agree with your points without any questions, l don't think it necessary translates to a better gameplay or such a linear correspondence to gameplay especially taking into account the player quality now a days.
In the most part, on maps like that the team with worse logistics has a hard time in setting FOBs, gets extremely punished and eventually stomped, more so than in normal games which makes it a much more frustrating experience and less fun as well since at the end of the day thats partially the goal of the game, not to mention if people without map knowledge could actually take hold of logistics and make the calls
Another one is the potential impact of lone wolfers with AT or Enginerr kits, you don't see these comments show up all that much you saw it a lot more in the olders days of players complaining about them since they manage to had such a impact in the game, be discreet and dont require all that much Teamworks. You just need one to make a entire team suffer, even if you have a SQ defending the logistics it doesnt assure it wont be taken out, and that means less of a SQ in the frontline so the enemy team is already at a big advantage there.
But yeah, ld guess they are good maps but TBH not too keen on them there is a really high potential of resulting on a non enjoyable round for something that can be out of your hands or hard to control taking away your focus from the real goal

Good point about the logistics trucks LOL I hate seeing new players or trolls one-man logis and abandon them in the field. That really screws your team on those inf layers
