Invisible helicopter model (will add more info later)

Post by Saharian »

Chinook cockpit is completly invisible. UI and HUD works. Other views display the cockpit properly. Huey works partially ok. Tail is invisible, as well as the skids and some parts of the body. Littlebird is also invisible in pilot's seat.

Graphics card is up to date, will verify installation later. Running the latest version of PR. Playing in 21:9 3440x1440, in Veteran's Gaming COOP.

EDIT1: Figured out there's no installation folder verification tool, but the game was freshly installed not one week ago and it's been working properly (no crashes, no funny business).

EDIT2: I have recorded video proof of the problem in question: https://imgur.com/a/idRbSbK

Blame the server for modifying the map and adding objects that your client didn't load.

What map?

Which coop map has a chinook, Huey and Littlebird in the same layer?

It doesn't seem to be map dependant.

Chinook in Kammisyah, Kokan, etc, doesn't work, Littlebird in Muttrah doesn't work.

It appears to affect helicopters specifically and in general, and not related to maps in any way. This is my understanding, I know nothing of servers and game development.

Ok, I have recorded this on Kashan Desert Alt, local game, no server. It showcases the problem with the Chinook and the Grifon, which is present also while playing on a server.

Grifon is showing the same issues as the Huey, I'm assuming they have something in common (note the missing tail and floating rotor on the edges of the video when in the door gunner position)

Chinook is self explanatory: Main cockpit view is completly FUBAR'd, but alternative views and passenger seat views work as expected.

I wanted to show the Littlebird, but with the time given, I couldn't find the correct Muttrah layer. I suspect it would've shown the same issue.

Hi Saharian!

I know you've stated your screen aspect ratio is 21:9, which is one of the standard / supported aspect ratio, but to double check, make sure you're not using non standard aspect ratio for the game itself (idk why but from your video, it seems your PR in-game aspect ratio is not 21:9), you can check it from the PR Launcher.

It maybe the cause, especially if you're playing in windowed mode.
Same thing happened to me when i set PR to custom res. with custom aspect ratio
(e.g. 5760 x 1080 p) in windowed mode.

It was even worse with ground textures / geometry missing here and there, and terrain meshes popping in and out depending on where i was looking at and how far the terrain was from my camera

Long story short, after i reverted the resolution back to standard aspect ratio (21:9 -- 1920 x 1080 p) things got back to normal

I hope this answer helps you in solving your issue

Cheers

Ok, I've no idea how to check or change ratio.

I'm assuming it's in the "Custom resolution" area, but how and where?

Sorry it took me a while to get back to this discussion, hopefully by this time you've rooted out the problem, nonetheless:

I was talking about windowed display mode, i.e. i unchecked the fullscreen option in the launcher, that way i was able to force the game into ultrawide res., which automatically made the aspect ratio non standard (there's no specific button for "aspect ratio", it's just the proportion of PR window width vs height) but then i had similar problem to yours

to sum it up, my guess & suggestion was, make sure you're not using some extreme non standard resolution, see if that helps
Cheers

... or maybe don't, because we didn't.

With all due respect, next time, please try harder or at least make an effort to help your users with their issues before making assumptions or casting shade on our server, k?

Also, you could have just asked if we had modified the map; of all people, Alon, I had though you were cool and not the type to jump to conclusions... thought we had earned respect and positive reputation as server license holders, or at least professional courtesy. When someone reports an issue with their game while on our server, we consider that it could be our server, or their game/computer, or the game you all designed, but we don't present our knee-jerk assumptions as facts in the course of asking them for more info. We would appreciate the same consideration, Alon. Thank you!
