New PC cant run PR
I just built myself a newish computer.
Ryzen 1700x, 40gb ram, gtx1060 3gb, 512gb ssd, win 7 pro 64 retail.
I can install but not run PR. Compatibility modes and running as administrator doesn't work. Tried to install and reinstall many times. No dice. All hardware was salvaged and pulled from older computers lying around my house. All hardware passed QC tests. PC installs and runs steam and steam games just fine. It wont let me play PR. I also have an old 15" laptop, ivy bridge i7-3517U, hd4000 graphics, 8gb ram, Win 7 64 home. That runs PR just fine. Will switching to alder lake solve my problem?
P.S. I do not use windows 10 in my personal life.

Re: New PC cant run PR
So you got it installed, eh?
Navigate to the programs folder wherever it is installed and double-click on the PRLauncher.exe to run PR:
If this does not launch the game, note what occurs.
If there is any pop-up, take a screenshot of it. In Windows 7, you can open the Windows Snipping Tool program (open the start menu and type 'Snipping' and click on the application). It has options to save the file to disk, and you can drag/drop that into a forum post such as these. You can also paste this into an image website such as imgur.com which will provide you with a 'share' link you can paste here, or just drag/drop directly into a chat such as Discord.

No pop up. Nothing at all.
I think the problem may be with UEFI bios? I had the exact same problem with my old gaming pc and win 7, same ryzen platform. Thats why I ran PR on win 10 install. I also got a win server 2008 machine with 512gb of ram and dual 8 core opterons and it runs pr just fine. WTF is going on?

Check event viewer-> Application logs for PRlauncher stacktrace

Lived through it, been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and burned it in effigy. Not exactly what I would call "professional quality and usability", and I wasn't properly impressed with new Windows versions until XP hit the scene.
Maybe your experience differed, but I was glad to be out of that sea of insanity and ME was not a sufficient improvement imho.

Windows 2000 was better for every day office work than most other contemporary operating systems at the time. You know what's the best program on macintosh? Microsoft Office.

I wouldn't know... our offices kept with Windows 98/NT until XP. Helping folks troubleshoot their Win2000 was a larf, and ME was even worse. Life truly began around the time XP released SP2, and BF1942 Desert Combat Mod finally had a successor in BF2: PR, and all the early growing pains of Windows faded into the past along with the A: drivedcm wrote:You know the old saying?
