MEC/China little bird equivalent

Post by blud »

What about having a MEC/China chopper that is the game play equivalent of the little bird? That is, a fast transport chopper with *no guns*.

Just wondering, because in the 6v6 ladder, Muttrah is really cool where we have USMC using the littlebird, so perhaps in the future there could be some cool map that has a MEC/China 'little-bird' type chopper.

no,
each army should be unquie with its own vehicles and weapons, they shouldn't be copies of the US side using different models/skins

I'm not talking about a copy. Are you telling me that China and MEC type armies don't have small transport choppers with no mounted guns on them?

Not to mention, for almost every other vehicle (attack choppers, jeeps/buggies, trucks, jets) there are "copies" of the US side using different models and skins.

that is one thing about this mod that i am loving, how there is no equality to the armies because we all know that the American military is going to be better equiped than all others whether it be with air or ground...well at least i hope when i goto afghanistan that there arent any enemy cobra heli's :)

This is something we have been working on for a while for the PLA; the Z-9. It's not really a MH-6 equivalent, it's a light utility helicopter that the PLA uses in several roles (including an attack version, the Z-9W/G). I can't recall ever seeing it armed in the assault-transport role. It won't be exactly like the MH-6, but it is a lighter transport than the Z-8A they have in BF2.

Hope it doesn't replace my lovely little Z-11. That thing rocks.

has anyone ever thought about giving mec a hind?
i mean, you could drop the small chopper and the current one and replace it with a hind-d or so (i could provide you with pics of one of the newest hind versions around, i think it is only about a year old and quite beefed up). that would give them more "character", since it would be pretty unique (more aggressive armed than a blackhawk but far less maneuverable than a littlebird).
in fact, you could just use the sf hind (though that would exclude my suggestion above) - perhaps you could then change some maps to replace the havoc with a hind

Oh yeah, just tested the gbthe_merlin today. It's remarkably easy to fly even without a HUD. It's very manoeverable and has a great view. I hope this hasn't changed. So Lucid Nightmare, this shows that the Z-9 might be just as good as the Z-11 in terms of handling.

My main frustration with the LB is that it allows USA to fly ahead to flags at lighting speed (with no threat from AA missiles,) drop off some troops, and be on its way, while MEC/PLA are stuck with huge flying buses that rarely last more than 2 minutes in the sky. It's frustrating to see a sky full of LBs with no way to take them down, unless you score a lucky AT shot or a dozen teammates open up on it with small arms fire. Hell, the way I see them taken down the most? The pilot losing control and rolling it on the ground.
